Officers arrived at the scene and located a juvenile male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds on the back staircase of the location. Officers administered life saving measures to the victim until Montgomery County Fire Rescue arrived at the scene. The victim was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.  Items of evidentiary value were collected from the scene.

During the month of September 2022, detectives identified Damien Fisher as the suspect in the August 16th shooting. Additionally, detectives learned that Fisher was also a suspect in a carjacking and kidnapping incident. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant, charging Fisher with kidnapping, first-degree assault and unauthorized removal of a vehicle.


Per MCPD: Montgomery County Police responded to the 9900 block of Walkers House Road on Thursday, October 6, at approximately 8:20 p.m., for the sound of shots fired. When officers arrived on scene, the observed property damage as the result of gunshots. At this time, there have been no injuries confirmed on scene. No arrests have been made stemming from this incident.

On Friday, September 16, 2022, at approximately 6:21 p.m., officers were patrolling the area of Shady Grove Rd. when they observed a silver 2020 Nissan Altima commit a traffic violation. Officers followed the Nissan and pulled it over in the area of I-270 north and Montgomery Village Ave. Officers approached the Nissan and made contact with Walter Prince, who was an occupant in the Nissan. Officers then obtained probable cause to search the Nissan.

A search of the Nissan revealed a Glock 9mm handgun attached to a kit that allowed the Glock to fire fully automatic. In addition, a loaded drum magazine, a thirty-round magazine, two 10-round magazines and multiple rounds of ammunition were recovered from the Nissan.


dd’s Discount is coming to 18236 Contour Rd in the Montgomery Village Plaza shopping center, according to mfi Realty. The store will be located in the former space of Marshall’s, which relocated to Gaithersburg Square last year.  dd’s is owned and operated by Ross Stores, Inc and items for sale at its locations are similar to those found in other discount retailers. This will be the first dd’s location in Montgomery County. No opening date has been announced.

Montgomery Village’s Fall Festival will take place this year on October 8 from 11am-2:30pm at North Creek Community Center (20125 Arrowhead Road). The event will feature food trucks, games, a petting zoo, and the annual Great Pumpkin Race. The Great Pumpkin Race is a “unique side-by-side, single-elimination race featuring handcrafted, decorated pumpkin race cars, in a madcap, dramatic explosion of creative ingenuity. The referee rules the race, building excitement as registered pumpkin race car owners compete for the Pumpkin Race Championship Trophy.”

Each year the racing and the decorating become more competitive, and this year is expected to be no different. Families, individuals, local dignitaries, groups and organizations are encouraged to build a pumpkin racer for the race, which caps off the Montgomery Village Foundation (MVF) Fall Festival. Participants will have time before the single-elimination heats to test and tune their racers for optimal performance. A limited number of race kits will be available both at the MVF Office, 10120 Apple Ridge Road ($20), before race day, and at the festival on race day (limited quantities); pumpkins not supplied. Ryan Homes is advertising single family homes coming soon to the new Bloom Village development in Montgomery Village, starting in the low $700s. The 150 acre site will consist of townhomes, single-family homes, walking paths, picnic areas, a dog park and an edible garden.

Bloom Village is the planned community that is being built on the former site of the Montgomery Village Golf Course. The brand new Starbucks in the Montgomery Village Shopping Center opened for business on Thursday, August 25. The Starbucks is located at the former site of the Montgomery Village Denny’s at 19290 Montgomery Village Ave.

Earlier this month we reported that Hangry Joe’s will be coming to the space directly next to the new Starbucks later this year.  The spicy fried chicken chain has recently opened locations in Wheaton (2533 Ennals Ave) and at 10050 Darnestown Road in the Travilah Square shopping center.  Hangry Joe’s joins a growing list of restaurants that are all expected to open in the redeveloped MV shopping center by the end of this year that includes Antojitos Salvadoreños Isabel, Boo Boo Pho, Dickey’s BBQ, and Kobe JapanThe Joint chiropractic care center and Safe Splash Swim School have also signed leases and will coming to the center.

Earlier this month we reported that Hangry Joe’s will be coming to the space next to the new Starbucks.  Hangry Joe’s opened a location at 2533 Ennals Ave in Wheaton back in May and has additional locations opening at 10050 Darnestown Road in the Travilah Square shopping center and at 718-B Rockville Pike.
