The City  of Gaithersburg offers two Farmers Markets, providing residents with locally grown produce throughout the year. The variety of fruits & vegetables changes weekly as different crops reach maturity. More on Casey Farmers Market and Main Street Market below:

Casey Farmers Market is held every Thursday, May through November 30, 2023, in the parking lot behind Casey Community Center, at 810 South Frederick Avenue. “The market is open 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Fresh, locally grown produce & eggs. Freshly baked breads & sweets. Locally brewed coffees, beer & spirits. Learn about how we can help slow climate change. Talk to folks about different Health Insurance options through the Maryland Health Connection. Once the growing season ends, the market will continue once a month over the winter, with scheduled dates of December 7, 2023, and January 18, February 15, March 21 & April 18, 2024, weather permitting.”


The City of Gaithersburg celebrates & honors Asian American & Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May with programs and a proclamation highlighting the culture, heritage & achievements of our Asian American & Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander neighbors.

Asian and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Americans are part of the rich tapestry of American life in both our country and the City of Gaithersburg. Nineteen percent of the City’s population is of Asian & Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander heritage and can trace their ancestry to 47 countries & territories including China, Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Afghanistan, India, and Armenia.


The Kentlands Art Walk is returns to Kentlands Market Square on Saturday, May 6th from 11am until 3pm. The event will provide the opportunity to shop local artisan’s work, indulge in tasty food & beverages, enjoy live entertainment, raffles, crafts and the unveiling of a new mural. Per the City of Gaithersburg: WalletHub has named Gaithersburg the #1 Most Diverse City in America with a total score of 73.09. The City also ranked #1 in the Small City category, which includes communities with populations under 100,000. The study compared more than 500 of the largest cities in the U.S. and ranked them based on socioeconomic, cultural, economic, household, and religious diversity.

A previous WalletHub ranking from February, 2023 had Gaithersburg as the second most diverse small city and the third most culturally diverse city overall based on three key indicators of ethnic diversity, including ethnicity and race, language, and birthplace.

The next step is for WRS, Inc. to present a Schematic Development Plan (SDP) that will include very specific designs for the soon-to-be redeveloped Lakeforest Mall land. In a January meeting, WRS Inc. stated plans to demolish “as soon as they can.” Previously, WRS mentioned 2024 as a target date for demolition to occur and new construction to begin. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a collision involving a driver crashing their vehicle into a building at 8135 Snouffer School Road, near Cherry Laurel Lane, in Gaithersburg on Monday evening shortly before 6pm.

The crash occurred at Seasons Nursery, Inc. According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, the driver was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There is no word at the cause of the collision at this time. Featured photo sent in by Instagram user @gotta_fw_steff


The personal-finance website WalletHub today released its report on 2023’s Most Diverse Cities in America, and MoCo claimed the top three spots with Gaithersburg, Germantown, and Silver Spring coming in as the three most diverse cities/areas the United States. Rockville was also ranked 13th. Categorized rankings available below.

To determine the places in the U.S. with the most mixed demographics, WalletHub compared the profiles of more than 500 of the largest cities (areas) across five major diversity categories: socioeconomic, cultural, economic, household and religious.


Offutt was last seen on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at approximately 4 p.m., in the 19600 block of Sparr Spring Road.  Offutt is 4-feet tall and weighs approximately 85 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a gray Under Armour hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and gray Crocs.  Police and family are concerned for his welfare.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Jayla Hungerford, a missing 16-year-old from Gaithersburg. Hungerford was last seen on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at approximately 9 a.m., on South Frederick Ave.

Hungerford is approximately 5-feet, 7-inches tall and weighs 125 pounds. She has brown hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing a black hoodie, a grey shirt and black shorts. Hungerford has three tattoos: Tinkerbell, on her left chest, a heart, on the right side of her lower back and a cross, on her left ankle.


Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for a “single vehicle into the woods with fire” on Shady Grove Rd and Midcounty Highway at approximately 2:15am early Monday morning.

According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, one adult trauma patient was transported to the hospital. It was initially reported that there was also a passenger in the vehicle, but after an extensive search and police work, the individual was located at home. Morton’s Towing recovered the vehicle from the woods, “We recovered this vehicle, driver is very lucky to have survived. Engine and transmission came out of car on impact we arrived at 2:40am and finished around 5am.” said Morton’s Towing employee Dave G.


Last May we let you know that Dickey’s Barbecue Pit would opening a new location in the recently renovated Montgomery Village Center, next to the upcoming Kobe Japan. The space is now listed as available again on the shopping center’s leasing website, indicating that Dickey’s will no longer be returning to MoCo. Kobe Japan appears to be ready to open soon and BooBoo Pho has recently opened on the other side.

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit previously opened its second Maryland location in Montgomery County when it opened in Germantown in February 2013. The restaurant closed the following year and reopened under new management in July 2014 before closing permanently in early 2016. The first Maryland location was in Gambrills, but has since closed.
