Per Novavax:

Novavax today announced the initiation of its Phase 3 strain change trial to determine if its Omicron variant specific vaccine, NVX-CoV2515 (Omicron BA.1 strain), induces superior antibody responses against the Omicron variant compared to its Wuhan prototype vaccine, NVX-CoV2373, in participants who have received either a primary (two doses) or booster (three doses) series of an mRNA vaccine. The trial will also seek to determine the antibody responses to a bivalent vaccine, containing both NVX-CoV2373 and NVX-CoV2515, administered in participants who have received a booster series of an mRNA vaccine.

Back in January, we let you know that Pollo Campero would be taking over the location that was home to KFC until December 2020 at 426 N Frederick Rd in Gaithersburg. The exterior of the building appears to almost be finished (minus the signage) and the location is currently hiring.

A timeframe for the opening has not been provided, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see it open by the end of the summer. No official word on the future of the Lakeforest location, but based on other businesses relocating from the mall to nearby areas, we’d expect the current location to close prior to the opening of the new location.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS)  responded to a call for smoke/haze in the kitchen of the recently opened BurgerFi restaurant at Grand Corner Ave in Rio at approximately 7:30am Tuesday morning.

Upon arrival, all occupants were found to be safe and accounted for. MCFRS located the source of the smoke, which was a small smoldering fire in a trash can that was quickly extinguished. There was no extension and no injuries.

Teen accessory chain Claire’s new location in Gaithersburg Square is scheduled to open Tuesday,  May 31. It is taking over the former Grog’s Beer and Wine location between AT&T and Ashley Furniture Homestore. The Claire’s located a quarter of a mile away inside of Lakeforest Mall is now closed. As malls across the nation are closing, Claire’s is opening more locations in strip malls, as well as “store-inside-store’s” at Wal-Marts.

Claire’s has been the go-to spot for teen ear-piercing, jewelry, and accessories since the 60s. The company has experienced some rocky years, declaring bankruptcy, which it emerged from in 2018. Claire’s also has MoCo locations inside of Montgomery and Wheaton malls, and at the Clarksburg Outlets.
