Montgomery College to Require All Students and Employees to Be Vaccinated

Montgomery College announced this week that they will be requiring COVID-19 vaccinations for all employees and students. Employees must submit proof of vaccination by November 8 and students must submit proof of vaccination by January 7.


City of Rockville to Host Conversation With Director of HBO Documentary “The Crime of the Century” on September 18

The City of Rockville will host a virtual event featuring Emmy and Oscar award winning director Alex Gibney, and guest and Jonathan Novak, a former U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency attorney, to discuss their HBO film “The Crime of the Century” on September 18 at 6pm. Montgomery County Receives $364,000 in Funds to Combat Heroin Epidemic

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan announced Monday that the state will be giving $6M in grants to fund the Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network (MCIN) and Heroin Coordinator programs. Montgomery County’s MCIN will receive $319,452 and local Heroin Coordinators will receive $45,000.


Chaia Tacos, which has two locations in Washington, DC, has announced they will be opening a pop-up shop at 7237 Woodmont Avenue in Bethesda, the former site of Häagen-Dazs.

A few of the taco varieties they serve include braised mushroom, kale & potato, roasted eggplant, and chipotle sweet potato hash.  The menu does not feature Impossible/Beyond style meat substitutes. According to Bethesda Beat, the food will be prepared at their Chinatown location and then brought to the Bethesda restaurant. Chaia hope to open by the fall.


Governor Hogan Renews State of Emergency for Maryland After 12 Days

On June 15th, Governor Hogan announced that the state of emergency due to COVID-19 would be lifted effective July 1st. Last week on July 12th, Governor Hogan renewed the state of emergency and catastrophic health emergency in a proclamation, which you can view here. There were no press releases or public announcements from the Governor’s office regarding the state of emergency, which lead to speculation as to why it was reinstated.
