The University of Maryland College of Education has named former MCPS superintendent Dr. Monifa McKnight as its inaugural Dean’s Fellow and Superintendent in Residence, effective August 23. According to the University of Maryland, the new position has been created “to help strengthen partnerships between the college and PK-12 schools across the state.”

The Washington Post has created what they refer to as a “highly subjective guide” to America’s greatest regional hot dogs. On July 31, 1986, 19-Year-Old Keith Warren was found hanging from a tree near his home in Silver Spring, MD. The death was classified as a suicide, but because of perceived inconsistencies in the case, his family has long believed it to be a lynching.
According to Maryland Lottery and Gaming, Maryland’s six casinos combined to generate $162,914,432 in revenue from slot machines and table games during June 2024, a decrease of $802,798 (-0.5%) compared to June 2023. Casino gaming contributions to the state during June 2024 totaled $69,842,695, an increase of $412,462 (0.6%) compared to June 2023.
