Personal finance website WalletHub has released its list on 2022’s “Most and Least Educated States in America” with Maryland listed as the second most educated state.

“One of the biggest difficulties for education in the past two years has been the COVID-19 pandemic, and colleges currently face the struggle of balancing campus safety with returning to in-person classes. Amid these struggles, some states are able to provide safe, quality education more than others”, writes WalletHub.

Per Montgomery County:

ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan today announced that the state’s COVID-19 positivity rate has dropped below 5%—another critical milestone as Maryland’s health metrics continue to substantially decline.

Yesterday, Governor Larry Hogan called on the Maryland State Board of Education to rescind its school mask policy, citing the state’s dramatically improved health metrics, the widespread availability of vaccines for school age children, and the growing consensus among medical professionals, parents, and bipartisan state officials.

The Maryland State Board of Education provided a response last night, stating that the school mask policy will not be dropped until a vaccination level of 80% is reached and transmission levels drop.

Total gaming revenue is up 19.4% in Maryland casinos, including a near 33% increase from January 2021 at MGM National Harbor, which brought in over $67 million.

A large increase in revenue was also seen at Live Casino & Hotel (14.4%) and Horseshoe Casino (17.1%). The major increase at all but two casinos could partially be due to some pandemic-related restrictions still being in place last January. Sports betting also began in December 2021 at Maryland Casinos, with a total of $16 million being of revenue in the first month.

The promotion is to incentivize Marylanders to get COVID-19 booster shots.

According to the Maryland Lottery, “the first drawing on February 15 will award a $500,000 prize to one vaccinated and boosted Marylander. The next 10 weekly drawings will each award one $50,000 prize. A grand prize drawing will be held May 3 to award one $1 million prize.”

Per the State of Maryland:

ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan today encouraged all Marylanders to celebrate the state’s frontline medical workers as he issued an official proclamation designating Feb. 7-13, 2022 as Healthcare Heroes Appreciation Week in Maryland.
