The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) has announced that a virtual public meeting that was scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 15, has been postponed until further notice. The Montgomery County Department of Transportation’s (MCDOT) is seeking submissions for its annual “Heads Up, Phones Down” high school PSA video contest. There is an $800 grand prize for the winning video. Submissions are being accepted now through Feb. 29.

The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 35 (Montgomery County) issued the following statement in opposition of  Bill 2-24, the Freedom to Leave Act, which was introduced by Councilmember Will Jawando on Tuesday. The new bill proposes to “(1) prioritize Fourth Amendment rights and reduce disparities in traffic enforcement by prohibiting consent searches of a motor vehicle or person by a police officer; and (2) improve data analysis for traffic stops by requiring the collection of additional data and annual reporting of traffic stop data. This new bill replaces the STEP Act.”

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is “spreading the love” during the month of February by decorating five US 29 Flash buses with pink neon hearts in honor of Valentine’s Day.  MCDOT is also running a Valentines themed social media contest with $50 gift card prizes.
