Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) as well as Emergency Medical and Integrated health Services (EMIHS) responded to a call for an injury sustained by an employee of Taipei Tokyo in the Fallsgrove Village Center in Rockville at approximately 6pm on Saturday evening.

According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, a restaurant worker suffered a traumatic injury following a mishap involving the grease trap in the kitchen. The injury has been described as a “penetrating type injury.” Co-workers assisted with the medical emergency prior to the arrival of EMIHS. Upon arrival, medics continued providing care and the adult patient was transported to a local hospital with Priority 2 trauma (serious, but non-life threatening injuries). Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for a possible building fire on the 12100 block of Elm Forest Court, near a Little Seneca Parkway, in Clarksburg on Friday night, according to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer.

The fire started on the exterior of the building, likely due to improperly discarded smoking materials, and extended to the building. The building was evacuated s Upon arrival, crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire and there were no reported injuries.


Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were called to the scene of a fire at a Bethesda home on the 6700 block of Whittier Blvd at approximately 5pm on Thursday evening, according to MCFRS Spokesperson Pete Piringer.

Upon arrival, crews encountered a fire in the kitchen and smoke coming from the roof and two occupants outside of the home. The fire was quickly extinguished and there was little extension aside from smoke that filled the home. “No injuries, no dinner, two people displaced” tweeted Piringer. The stovetop fire caused approximately $30K in damages, in addition to displacing the two occupants.


A bicyclist has been struck and critically injured by a driver on southbound Rockville Pile (MD-355) near Talbott Street, according to our public safety reporter Cordell Pugh.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were called to the scene and are transporting the bicyclist to the hospital with critical injuries (priority 1 trauma). In an update to yesterday’s fire on the 3900 block of Denfeld Ave in Kensington, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) have determined that improperly discarded smoking materials and cardboard boxes on the deck were the cause of a fire that caused approximately $60K in damages. One adult suffered minor injuries trying to move the cardboard boxes away from the house.

Monday’s report: Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a fire in the 3900blk of Denfeld Ave, near Brandywine Street, in Kensington on Monday, November 28 around 8am. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the fire appeared to have started on the exterior (deck) and extended to the house. The fire has been extinguished and all occupants are out of the home. EMS is transporting one adult (civilian) with non-life threatening injuries. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) have issued a Traffic Advisory: “Goshen Rd CLOSED/BLOCKED between Rothbury Dr & Bramblebush Dr near Stewart Town, utility work & cleanup.” Crews are currently working at/near the site of last night’s plane crash into power lines/tower that caused widespread power outages Sunday night.

The pilot and passenger were successfully rescued without incident by EMS personnel using two specialty crane/boom trucks just after midnight on Monday.  According to Maryland State Police, the pilot was identified as Patrick Merkle, 65, of Washington, D.C. and the passenger was identified as Jan Williams, 66, of Louisiana. Both were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The plane was also removed from the power lines early Monday morning

MCPS has announced it is “monitoring the situation concerning the large power outage in many areas of the county. Any message about impacts to school operations will come later as more information becomes available.” after a plane crashed has led to widespread power outages across the county.

The plane crash occurred around 5:30pm on Sunday night.  According to the latest information from Montgomery County Fire & Rescue, there appears to be three individuals inside the plane, which is currently suspended about 100ft.  As of right now there are no injuries reported.  Fire and rescue crews are working to rescue the occupants of the plane, but at this time the power lines surrounding the plane are still energized.

A small plane crash in the area of Rothbury Dr & Goshen Road in Gaithersburg has caused widespread power outages in the area.  According to Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services Pete Piringer, the plane crashed into powerlines and is “dangling hundred feet in air, pilot and passenger trapped in plane”. The incident occurred around 5:30pm and the pilot of the involved aircraft is in contact with Montgomery County’s Emergency Communications Center (911), according to Public Safety Reporter Cordell Pugh. We will update this story as soon as more information becomes available.


Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a report of a fire in the basement of a home on the 14000 block of Saddle River Drive near Paramus Drive off of Dufief Mill Rd in North Potomac on Saturday morning, according to MCFRS Public Information Officer Pete Piringer.

Units arrived to find a malfunctioning washing machine, but not a fire, that was caused by a broken water pipe and minor flooding conditions, according to an update by Piringer. There were no injuries. Featured photo courtesy of Google Maps.
