Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to a call regarding a person on the Metro tracks at the Forest Glen Metro station in Silver Spring.

When responders arrived they found an injured person on the tracks, but the person had not been struck by a train or shocked by the third rail, according to our public safety reporter Cordell Pugh.


West Montgomery Avenue is closed between Nelson Street and Hurley Avenue due to a traffic collision involving a tractor trailer that occurred just before 7am this morning, according to MCFRS PIO Jason Blake.

A Haz Mat team has been on the scene to pump off the saddle tanks prior to the removal of the tractor trailer. There were no injuries.


A 2-alarm at 8800 Garland Ave off of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring required approximately 85 firefighters, according to MCFRS PIO Pete Piringer.

The fire occurred on two levels of the 4-sorry garden style apartments and required multiple rescues as the fire was being extinguished in 15° temperatures.


Montgomery County Fire and Rescue units were called to 199 Rollins Ave in Rockville earlier this evening for a 2-Alarm fire.

According to MCFRS PIO Pete Piringer, the fire started when a piece of burning paper that was used to light a candle was improperly discarded into a wicker trash can on the fifth floor of the 8-story Bethany House senior apartment complex.


Several crashes have been reported across the county, according to tweets by MCFRS PIO Pete Piringer. Montgomery County remains on Blue Alert with over 25 of 43 available EMS transport units committed on calls or at the hospital.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue units successfully rescued a dog from Sligo Creek on Sunday morning, according to MCFRS PIO Pete Piringer.

MCFRS received a call at around 11:20am about a dog that was stranded on a rock in Sligo Creek, near Big Millpond, in the Forest Glen area of Silver Spring. When units arrived they found the dog, which appeared to be a puppy, stranded on a rock in the middle of the creek.


A collision on the outer loop of the beltway has blocked all lanes near Georgia Avenue this morning after a fire engine that was on the scene assisting with a previous accident was struck by a passing motorist, according to MCFRS PIO Pete Piringer.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the fire engine was initially trapped in their car before MCFRS extricated the driver. No word on the condition of the driver.


The condos at Plymouth Woods, 872 College Parkway near Nelson Street Rockville, were evacuated on Tuesday morning after an underground water main break led to flooding in the garden style condos.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue was onnthe scene soon after being alerted and helped with the evacuation process, which required buses for transport to temporary shelter, according to MCFRS PIO Pete Piringer.
