Vehicle Driven into Bloom Medicinal Marijuana Dispensary in Germantown

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were called to the scene of a vehicle that was driven into a building in Germantown a little before 3pm on Monday afternoon, according to MCFRS Public Information Officer, Pete Piringer.

Fire units and EMS are currently on the scene at Bloom Medicinals at 11539 Middlebrook Rd in Germantown. The driver of the vehicle is being evaluated with serious, but non-life threatening injuries, and two adults who were inside the building are being evaluated for minor injuries.

MCFRS Responds to Fire in Olney Late Sunday Night

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for smoke coming from the second floor of a two story single-family home on Governors Way off of Cherry Valley Drive in Olney a little before 11:30pm on Sunday night.

According to MCFRS Public Information Officer Pete Piringer, the fire was located in the attic of the home and involved the HVAC. By 11:45pm, any visible fire had been knocked out and crews were checking for possible extension. By 12:30am early Monday morning, it was confirmed that the fire was out completely. Saturday Afternoon Collision Injures Two

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were called to the scene of a collision on Route 29 and Fairland Road at approximately 2pm on Saturday afternoon, according to MCFRS public information officer Pete Piringer.

Two patients were transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. Northbound Route 29 was was closed for a couple hours, according to the Montgomery County office of Emergency Management. All lanes are now open, but residual delays should be expected.

Collision Injures Six (4 Adults, 2 Children); Shuts Down Brink Rd in Germantown on Friday Night

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were called to the scene of a collision on Brink Rd and Leaman Ln. in North Germantown a little before 9pm on Friday night, according to MCFRS public information officer Pete Piringer.

According to Piringer, one person was trapped inside the car upon arrival. That person was extricated from the vehicle, but there was a total of six injuries. The injuries included one adult who suffered life threatening injuries (Priority 1 trauma), 3 adults who suffered serious injuries (Priority 2 trauma), and 2 children who suffered serious injuries (Priority 2 trauma).

Collision Blocks Two Lanes on SB I-270 Thursday Morning; All Lanes Now Open

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) we’re called to the scene of a collision on southbound I-270 on Thursday morning at approximately 7am, according to MCFRS public information officer Pete Piringer.

The collision blocked two lanes and was the cause of some traffic during the morning rush, but has since been cleared, with all lanes now open. One patient was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries believed to be minor at this time.

MHP Collecting Donations for Those Affected by Explosion/Fire in Gaithersburg Wednesday Morning

Gaithersburg mayor Jud Ashman informed the community of where they can donate to help the families impacted by this morning’s fire at Potomac Oaks in Gaithersburg. “Any amount helps and 100% of it will go to those families.” Ashman tweeted. A November 16 fire injured multiple residents, including four children, at a condominium complex at 826 Quince Orchard Boulevard in Gaithersburg. Many people were evacuated with little or nothing and now are in temporary shelter. At the request of Montgomery County, MHP is collecting financial donations to help affected families.

Per MHP: While this is not an MHP property, we maintain close ties with the community through the many affordable housing properties we have developed in Montgomery County, and are playing a role by managing financial donations to help impacted residents. At Least Five Collisions Occurred on Montgomery County Highways Friday Morning; MCFRS Warns to be Cautious Driving in the Rain

There were five reported collisions on highways in Montgomery County prior to 10am Friday morning, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) public information officer Pete Piringer.

The collisions occurred on the inner loop of I-495 near University Boulevard, at the southbound I-270 Spur near Democracy Boulevard, on the ramp from east bound Shady Grove Rd to north bound I-270, on the ramp from west bound Montrose Rd to north bound I270, and on southbound I-270 between Route 121 & route 27.

MCFRS Respond to Kitchen Fire in Aspen Hill

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call for a kitchen fire on the 3200 block of Hewitt Ave in Aspen Hill a little before 8am on Thursday morning. According to MCFRS Public Information Officer Pete Piringer, smoke was showing from the first floor of a three-story apartment building that caused all residents to be evacuated.

The fire started in and around the stove/oven in the kitchen when combustibles in a bottom drawer storage area we’re too close to the heat source. It was quickly extinguished by crews on the scene and approximately $1,000 in damages was incurred. There were no injuries and all residents were able to re-occupy the building.

Electric Vehicle Charging Cord Causes Small Fire Between Homes

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were called to the scene of a fire beteeen two homes on Smoketree Rd and Post Oak Rd On Wednesday, according to MCFRS Public Information Officer Pete Piringer.

The cause of the fire was a 50 foot light duty extension cord that was charging a Chevy Volt electric vehicle. The cord overheated and melted, which caused a short that ignited the nearby dried brush. The fire spread to the nearby trees, leaves, and fence, when a neighbor noticed it and called 911. Crews were able to quickly put out the fire without much damage.

Rockville Police Provides Update on Dead Body Found in Pond at RedGate Park

Per Rockville Police (4:09pm): At 9:45 a.m. on 11/8/22 RCPD responded to Redgate Park at 14500 Avery Rd for the report of person in a pond. An adult was was discovered deceased & has been transported to the Medical Examiners Office. Montgomery County Police Major Crimes will assume the investigation.

Original Report: Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a call of a person/body found in a pond near Southlawn Lane/Red Gate Park in Rockville at approximately 10am, according to MCFRS Public Information Officer Pete Piringer. The police department assisted with the recovery of the body, as it was not a rescue.

Fuel Spill Blocks Multiple Lanes of I-495 on Tuesday Afternoon

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were called to the scene of a fuel spill on the outer loop of I-495 between New Hampshire Avenue and University Boulevard at approximately 1:38pm on Tuesday afternoon, according to MCFRS Public Information Officer Pete Piringer.

The driver of a truck with an 80 gallon fuel tank struck an object on the road, causing damage that led to the fuel tank leaking on the highway. The three right lanes of the outer loop in the area of spill remain blocked as of 3:30pm. Ramps onto the outer loop of I-495 from New Hampshire Avenue are currently closed as hazmat crews continue to work.
