MCPD announced at 11:23am that a bomb threat was also made against Blair High School (51 University Blvd E, Silver Spring). That incident is still being investigated. We will provide an update if additional information becomes available.

Police responded to a home invasion robbery on Sunday, October 22 in Rockville. According to MCPD, “At approximately 4:30 p.m., Rockville City Police and Montgomery County Police officers responded to the 200 block of Elizabeth Ave. in Rockville for the report of a home invasion robbery that just occurred.

 The preliminary investigation has revealed that an adult male victim was approached by two armed suspects at his home. The suspects entered the home and then left the scene in a vehicle. One suspect has been taken into custody. Officers are still looking for the other suspect.  The victim was not injured. This is still an active and ongoing investigation. More information will be released as it becomes available.”


Montgomery County Police responded to a shooting early this morning in Clarksburg. According to police, “On Sunday, October 22, 2023, at approximately 1:59 a.m., MCP officers responded to the 12800 block of Clarks Crossing Drive in Clarksburg for the report of shots fired. 

The preliminary investigation has revealed that the suspect(s) arrived at the location in an unknown vehicle, fired rounds, and left the scene. A home was struck by gunfire. The home was occupied but no one reported any injuries.  This is an active and ongoing investigation.  


UPDATE: Melissa Adriana Marquez Zavala has been located safe and unharmed. Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Melissa Adriana Marquez Zavala, a missing 13-year-old from Gaithersburg. Zavala was last seen on Friday, October 20, 2023, at approximately 7:45 p.m., leaving her home in the 300 block of N. Summit Ave. in Gaithersburg . She is 5-feet tall, 120 lbs., with black hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a black sweater, light blue jeans, and black shoes.


Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating George Steven Renderos, a missing 14-year-old from Gaithersburg. Renderos was last seen on Friday, October 20, 2023, at approximately 6:30 p.m., leaving his home in the 900 block of Clopper Rd. in Gaithersburg. He is 5-feet tall, 100 lbs., has black hair, and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

Per MCPD: “Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 4th District Investigative Section are investigating a commercial burglary that occurred at the Speedy Laundromat in the 12500 block of Layhill Road in Silver Spring. Detectives have released surveillance photos of one of the suspects and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.

The investigation by detectives has revealed that at approximately 3:50 a.m.,on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, a suspect forced entry into the laundromat by shattering the glass front door, stole an undisclosed amount of money and left the store. At approximately 4:40 a.m., a second suspect entered the business through the broken front door, stole the cash register containing an undisclosed amount of money and left the scene.


Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Cold Case/Missing Person Unit are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Ronald Jeffery Byrd, a missing 61-year-old. Byrd was last seen on Friday, September 15, 2023, in the 10000 Block of Pratt PI. in Silver Spring. He is 6’4″, 245 lbs., with brown eyes and black hair.

The investigation by detectives has revealed that at approximately 6:40 a.m., on Thursday, September 28, 2023, the suspect attempted to force entry into the victim’s residence by breaking a basement window. Detectives reviewed video surveillance and obtained a description of the suspect. The suspect is seen wearing items taken from a theft from auto incident that occurred earlier in the same block. The suspect is described as a Black teenage male, wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, white ski mask and black gloves. He is carrying a flashlight and a black Northface backpack that was stolen from a theft from auto that occurred earlier.
