The preliminary investigation has revealed that the driver of the Jeep was making a U-Turn from westbound Veirs Mill Road to continue eastbound on Veirs Mill Road. The operator of the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Veirs Mill Road when it collided with the back of the jeep.


Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 21-year-old Naseem Roulack, who is wanted in connection with an armed carjacking that occurred on Friday, September 1, 2023.

At approximately 12:05 a.m., 6th District officers responded to the 400 block of W. Deer Park Rd., for the report of an armed carjacking that occurred earlier. Detectives have determined that the adult female victim was sitting in her blue 2016 Nissan Sentra when the unknown suspect approached the suspect, pointed a black handgun at her and demanded her car.


Montgomery County Police are alerting residents that the department will be conducting drone training this week in Silver Spring.  “The MCPD Special Operations Division will be conducting UAS (drone) training in & around the Central Business District of Silver Spring at various times between Mon., Oct. 2 -Sat., Oct. 7, 2023. Residents/community members may observe a drone however there is no reason for alarm.”

MCPD has recently been speaking with residents about their proposal to use drone technology as first responders to enhance public safety and decrease police response times.


Montgomery County Police is investigating a fatal collision that occurred Sunday evening.  According to police, “At approximately 7:57 p.m., on Sunday, October 1, 2023, officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the 12800 block of Veirs Mill Road for the report of a fatal traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a vehicle. The adult male operating the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the striking vehicle remained on scene.

The Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is investigating the collision. A news release will be distributed once more information becomes available, including the name of the deceased, following proper notification of next of kin.” We will provide an update when additional information is available. The Montgomery County Department of Police – 5th District Investigative Section is asking for the public’s assistance in locating John Covington, a missing 79-year-old. Covington was last seen on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at approximately 6 a.m., in the 1900 block of Observation Drive in Germantown. He is 6-feet, 4-inches tall, 237 Ibs., with brown eyes, salt and pepper hair, stubble facial hair, and was last seen wearing a black shirt, black pans and black shoes.


Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a collision involving a scooter rider on Saturday, September 30 in Layhill. According to police, “MCPD responded to the area of Bel Pre Road and Layhill Road at approximately 7:44 p.m., for the report of a two-vehicle collision involving a scooter. The adult male driver of the scooter has been transported to an area hospital with life threatening injuries. The driver of the striking vehicle remained on scene.”

MCPD posted the following on Twitter at 8:41pm: “TRAFFIC ADVISORY: A traffic collision has eastbound Bel Pre Road closed at Layhill Road. Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route. Expect delays.”


Montgomery County Police responded to the reports of shots fired on Saturday, September 30. According to police, “MCPD responded to the 9300 block of Piney Branch Road at approximately 12:17 a.m., for the sound of shots. No victims were located at that time.  A short time later officers became aware of an adult male at an area hospital, suffering from a gunshot wound. The injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.”

Public safety reporter Cordell Pugh tweeted the following, “12:20AM Saturday, outside the Forest Park Apartments off Piney Branch Road (Montgomery County, MD near the Northwest Branch). Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the six suspects who committed an armed carjacking in Silver Spring.

On Friday, September 22, 2023, at approximately 8:30 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the 11600 block of Lockwood Drive for the report of an armed carjacking that just occurred. Detectives have determined that the victims were attempting to park their red 2016 Toyota Highlander, when an unknown gray 4-door sedan, pulled up behind them, blocking them from pulling away. Two suspects immediately exited the gray sedan, approached the victim’s vehicle and displayed handguns. The suspects forced the victims to get out of their car. The suspects then left the scene in the stolen vehicle, followed by the unknown gray 4-door sedan.
