Per MCPD: A male suspected of stabbing four people was shot and killed by a Montgomery County Police officer late Saturday morning.

At approximately 10:36 a.m., on Saturday, July 22, 2023, Montgomery County Department of Police 4th District officers were dispatched to the Unique Thrift Store, located in the 12200 block of Veirs Mill Road, after receiving multiple calls for a stabbing that just occurred. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female suffering from apparent stab wounds.


Per MCPD: A woman has died following a traffic collision that occurred on Thursday, July 20, 2023. At approximately 9:31 p.m., 1st District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the collision in the 18900 block of Beallsville Rd in Poolesville.

The preliminary investigation by Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) detectives has revealed that the driver, and sole occupant, of a black 2002 Hyundai Elantra, was traveling southbound on Beallsville Rd., prior to Jerusalem Rd., when for reasons still under investigation, she left the roadway and struck a tree. The victim was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.


Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) have arrested and charged 31-year-old Joshua Black, of Olney, with multiple counts of second-degree rape and third-degree sex offense. Detectives have released a photo of Black and are urging anyone who may be a victim of sexual assault by Black to come forward.

The investigation by detectives has revealed that on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at approximately 7 p.m., Black lured the juvenile female victim into a wooded area, in the 17700 block of Prince Philip Dr., where he sexually assaulted her. Detectives quickly developed Black as the suspect and arrested him at his home without incident. Black was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is currently being held without bond. Detectives are concerned there may be additional victims of sexual assault by Black that have not contacted police.


The Special Victims Investigations Division is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 16-year-old. Carol Hernandez was last seen on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at approximately 9:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of Hampshire Green Lane in Hillandale/Silver Spring.  Hernandez is 5’2″, 145 lbs, with short black hair above the shoulders and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white tank top and blue jean shorts. Police and family are concerned for her welfare.

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District Investigative Section are investigating a commercial burglary that occurred on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at the Montgomery County Liquor and Wine store in the 11200 block of New Hampshire Ave. in Silver Spring. Detectives have released surveillance video of the six suspects and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying them.

At approximately 5:49 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to the location for the report of burglary. The investigation by detectives has revealed that the six suspects arrived at the store in a black Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan and a black BMW 5-Series sedan. The suspects forced entry into the store, stole an undisclosed amount of merchandise and left the scene in their vehicles.  Detectives reviewed the surveillance video of the store and obtained a description of the suspects.


Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 5th District Investigative Section are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Tina Louise Martinez, a missing 50-year-old. Martinez was last seen on Sunday, June 18, 2023, in the 19900 block of Sweetgum Circle in Germantown. She is 5’5″, 210 Ibs., with blonde hair and green eyes and was last seen wearing a tan shirt. Police and family are concerned for her welfare.

Per MCPD: A 21-year-old Washington D.C. woman, wanted in connection with pack retail thefts throughout Montgomery County has turned herself in. An arrest warrant was issued for Regina Christmas for thefts that she is alleged to have committed between April 28 and June 15, 2023. Christmas was initially arrested for these crimes on Friday, June 21, 2023, and was subsequently released in Washington D.C.

On Tuesday, July 17, 2023, she turned herself in at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where she is currently being held without bond.  This is an active and ongoing investigation.


Per MCPD: Two men have been arrested for multiple thefts from autos in the Bethesda area that they committed on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. At approximately 3:18 a.m., 2nd District officers responded to the 8500 block of 16th Street for the report of a theft from auto in progress. The preliminary investigation revealed that two Black males, wearing all black clothing with blue rubber gloves, were walking around and attempting to open the doors of multiple cars in the area.

Upon arrival, officers located two suspects matching the description and placed them under arrest. The suspects were identified as 23-year-old Matthew Alfonso Scott Jr., of Washington D.C. and 22-year-old Manden Jervell Turner, of Hyattsville.  During a search of Scott, officers located a window punch and blue latex gloves. While searching Turner, officers located a loaded black High Point 10 mm handgun and a backpack containing a stolen purse and multiple stolen wallets and bank cards.


Per MCPD: A 54-year-old Olney woman has died following a traffic collision that occurred on Sunday, June 18, 2023. At approximately 4:10 p.m., Montgomery County Police and Montgomery County Fire Rescue Personnel responded to a collision that occurred at East-West Hwy. and Blair Mill Rd.

The preliminary investigation by Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) detectives has revealed that a white 2022 Toyota Tacoma was traveling westbound on East-West Hwy., when it made a left turn and collided with an eastbound blue 2004 Toyota Sienna. The right rear passenger of the Sienna was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. On Monday, July 17, 2023, the victim died as a result of the injuries she sustained in the collision.


Detectives from the MCPD – 4th District Investigative Section are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Sarah Ann Kauffman, a missing 34-year-old. Kauffman was last seen on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. She is 5’2″, 130 lbs., and has blonde hair and hazel eyes. Kauffman may be driving a Silver Mazda with Maryland registration 5FF2582. According to police, she is known to frequent the Gaithersburg and Olney areas.

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating a home invasion robbery that occurred on Monday, July 10, 2023, on Key West Avenue in Rockville. Detectives have released surveillance video of the suspects and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying them.  At approximately 1:25 a.m., 1st District officers responded to the location for the report of a home invasion robbery.

The investigation by detectives has revealed the adult male victim parked his vehicle in the parking garage of the apartment complex. When the victim exited his vehicle, the suspects approached him, displayed handguns and announced the robbery. The suspects then stabbed and assaulted the victim and tied his hands behind his back with zip ties. The victim was forced into the suspects’ vehicle. The victim gave the suspects access to his apartment, where they took the safe containing an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry before fleeing the scene.
