Mental health issues in our community are complex and challenging; but, by coming together we can increase our understanding of the issues faced across our community and work together on tangible actions to make a difference for our residents and our outstanding community partners that are focused on mental health and wellness.


Per Montgomery County:

ROCKVILLE, Md., Feb. 18, 2022—Montgomery County Councilmember Tom Hucker invites Montgomery County students to participate in a virtual Youth Listening Session on Mental Health and Wellness on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 5:30 p.m. to share students’ vision of what Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) and the County can do to prioritize mental health and well-being in schools. The virtual Youth Listening Session, co-hosted by Councilmember Hucker and Student Member of the Board of Education Hana O’Looney, will include students’ perspectives, questions and ideas, and mental health resources.


Last week the Montgomery County Council, acting as the Board of Health, announced it will not be introducing a new Board of Health regulation to extend the indoor mask requirement. This allows the current Board of Health regulation to terminate tonight (Monday, February 21st) at 11:59pm.

What does this mean?


The Health and Human Services (HHS) Committee will meet tomorrow, February 17 at 9:30am to review Bill 1-22, which require children’s meals offered by food service facilities to include certain healthy food and beverage options.

The members of the HHS Committee include Council President Gabe Albornoz, Council Vice President Evan Glass, and Councilmember Craig Rice.
