Montgomery County, in partnership with local governments and organizations, will host its 28th annual Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown, featuring live performances, vendors, food, and community programming under the theme “Pushing Back – The Fight for Freedom is Not Over.” The festivities begin with the African American Living Legends Awards Ceremony on June 20, honoring residents over age 75 for their significant contributions to the county, as leaders emphasize the importance of preserving and celebrating African American history and culture. The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) and Manna Food Center will host the annual Ride On Food Drive from May 25 to May 31, allowing riders to donate non-perishable food items on Ride On buses in exchange for free fare, with all donations supporting local residents facing food insecurity.

The Montgomery County Community Action Board celebrated the graduation of 27 residents from its Community Advocacy Institute (CAI) on May 20, the largest class in the program’s nine-year history. The free, bilingual program provides advocacy training for residents with low to moderate incomes and has graduated 167 participants since its launch in 2016. (more…)


The Montgomery County Council will meet on Thursday, May 22 to recognize Lupus Awareness Month and is scheduled to take final votes on the County’s $7.6 billion FY26 Operating Budget, $6 billion FY25-30 Capital Improvements Program, and introduce legislation for new capital projects including the Clarksburg Library and an organics processing facility.
