At today’s Board of Education meeting, the authorization will be requested to receive and expend, subject to County Council approval, a Fiscal Year 2025 supplemental appropriation of $2,000,000 for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) to install vape detectors at each high school.
Montgomery County will hold a remembrance ceremony and candlelight vigil on Thursday, August 29, in Downtown Rockville to honor lives lost to substance use and launch National Recovery Month. (more…)

Montgomery County has received a $2.68 million grant from the Maryland Department of Transportation to expand electric vehicle charging infrastructure at up to 17 county-owned locations.
On Thursday, Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich held a bill signing ceremony in Rockville for Bill-7-24, the Tenant Fire Safety & Notification Bill, which strengthens tenant protections and ensures safer living conditions. (more…)
Wheaton’s newest mural on the side of a building, called “Wheaton Lives,” will be dedicated in ceremonies at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11. The mural is on the building that houses Elbe’s Beer and Wine store (photo of the full mural below).
Montgomery County will host an open house for individuals seeking County Government jobs on Wednesday, Aug. 14, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the lobby-level auditorium of the County Executive Office Building (101 Monroe St.) in Rockville. Attendees must be 18 or older. (more…)
