Montgomery County has launched a Food Scraps Recycling Drop-Offs program at three area farmers markets, allowing residents to recycle food scraps through composting as part of the County’s zero-waste initiative.
Montgomery County will be holding “Climate Solutions for Congregations” on Sunday, Oct. 13, at M-NCPPC’s Wheaton headquarters, inviting faith leaders to discuss the County’s Climate Action Plan, collaborate within the interfaith community, and explore grant opportunities for climate initiatives.
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich is urging residents to get vaccinated against the flu at County-sponsored clinics in October and November, emphasizing that flu shots help prevent serious illness, especially for high-risk individuals. (more…)
Montgomery County’s Department of Environmental Protection will host a free webinar on Thursday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. to offer tips on using and maintaining battery-powered leaf blowers. As of July 1, 2024, the sale of gas-powered leaf blowers and vacuums has been banned in the county.
The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) and Department of General Services (DGS) received the 2024 Innovation Award from the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) for the Brookville Smart Energy Solar Charging Depot, a solar-powered facility supporting the County’s transition to a zero-emission bus fleet by 2035.
