Investigation Discovery Episode about Missing MoCo Sisters Aired this Weekend

This past weekend, Investigation Discovery aired an episode sharing the story of the the Lyon sisters.  The two sisters, Sheila (12) and Katherine (10) disappeared in 1975 during a trip to Wheaton Mall.  The girls were never found.


The Montgomery County Police Department has shared that Text-To-911 is now available in Maryland and has provided the following guidelines. If you’re experiencing an emergency and are unable to place a voice call, you can send a text to 911. Follow these steps to request emergency services:

Per Montgomery County:

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich has announced that the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) and the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) have agreed to a new policy requiring officers to intervene when they witness excessive force by other officers. The Use of Force Intervention Policy, which went into effect on Thursday, June 11, states that it shall be the duty of every officer present at any scene where physical force is being applied to either stop, or attempt to stop, another officer when force is being inappropriately applied or is no longer required.


Tomorrow (June 1) at 6 PM, the City of Takoma Park will host a moment of reflection and a call to action event.  This event will feature several Takoma Park leaders and activists, acting as “a united front, [to] take a public stance against racism.”  The event will be held via radio broadcast on Takoma Park Radio Station 94.3 FM.
