The fall sports season is almost over and championships are beginning.. It’s an exciting time for student-athletes and spectators. From soccer to field hockey, volleyball, cheerleading, golf and more, there is a full schedule of events for all sports lovers. Below is an abbreviated schedule, courtesy of MCPS Athletics:

The classes are being in-person after being held virtually over the past two years due to the COVID-19 health crisis. They will be taught by instructors certified in Rape Aggression Defense (RAD).

The self-defense seminars will be offered from 7- 9 p.m. at each of the locations. The seminar schedule:

“I am proud to appoint such distinguished individuals to serve in our state’s judicial system,” said Governor Hogan. “Our state is gaining an immensely talented and principled group of judges who will honorably serve the citizens of their respective counties and Maryland in the years to come. I want to especially congratulate Cathi Coates as she becomes the first woman in state history to serve on the Worcester County District Court.”

For Garrett County Circuit Court:

Koa Sports is spotlighting the top senior field hockey players from Montgomery County Public Schools. Players will be split into two teams and compete in a celebratory all-star game. Seniors are nominated by their high school coach based on the following criteria: team players, talent, and working hard both on and off the field.

Koa Sports is sponsoring this event (2nd annual) and incurring all costs including field, officials, food, shirts, etc… to celebrate these seniors.  Koa’s goal is to increase field hockey awareness and participation in Montgomery County. While there are All Star Games in MoCo for other sports (such as lacrosse & basketball) field hockey has never been represented. All are welcome to attend the free event and watch these talented players compete one final time in their high school uniforms. Event Details:

We are about a month into fall and the colors around us are changing. Whether it’s the taste of a warm pumpkin-flavored latte, the cool breeze of a crisp fall morning, weekends full of football, or the yellow glow of the sun on a tall birch tree, autumn is often a contender for MoCo residents’ favorite season (however short it may be). Many locals are looking forward to combining all the best parts of fall and enjoying the foliage outdoors, so we’ve put together a small list of 10 where you can enjoy the foliage across the county:

Agricultural Reserve: A drive through the rural areas that the 93,000 acre Agricultural Reserve encompasses, along with the larger rural communities of Damascus and Poolesville and small crossroad communities such as Beallsville, Sunshine and Dickerson, are sure to give you your fill of fall foliage.

On September 28th, Lone Oak Farm Brewing Company and The MoCoShow dropped their collaboration, bringing you MoCo Lite (3.8% ABV)– an American Pilsner that’s easy-drinking, extra pale, and very refreshing. […]

The Hall of Fame has previously inducted 102 honorees. A complete listing of inductees, and more information about the Hall of Fame, can be found at the Office of Human Rights website. For more information about the program contact Office of Human Rights, contact Director James Stowe at [email protected].

The schedule of events actually gets started in late October with the Poolesville Community Conversation Circle on Tuesday, Oct. 25, and a celebration of Emancipation Day at Button Farm Living History Center in Germantown on Saturday, Oct. 29. There will be two major events on Saturday, Nov. 5. The Sandy Spring Slave Museum Emancipation Day Open House will have a full day of activities starting at 10 a.m. A Montgomery County: Historical Black Sites and Places Bus tour hosted by the Lincoln Park Historical Foundation, Inc. will begin at noon.

The schedule of events for Remembrance and Reconciliation Month:

Freshman Joshua Pitsenberger leads the team in rushing through 5 games this season and had a memorable Ivy League debut last month, scoring three touchdowns and rushing for a team-high 93 yards to help lead the Yale football team to a convincing 38-14 victory over Cornell in his first Ivy League football game at Yale. Two days later, he earned his first lvy accolade by being named the league’s Rookie of the Week in late September.

By the end of the first quarter of his first Ivy League football game (against Cornell), Pitsenberger had already scored two touchdowns. The first was a 5 yard receiving touchdown from a shuffle pass on Yale’s opening drive. The second came on a 1-yard run that gave Yale the first of 31 consecutive points. Pitsenberger added another 1-yard scoring run with 39 seconds remaining in the second quarter. In his first college game ever, the previous week against Holy Cross, Pitsenberger carried 9 times for 50 yards in a 38-14 to the now 6-0 Holy Cross Crusaders.

1. Quince Orchard 7-0 (LW 1): The Cougars are now the lone undefeated team in the county with their victory over Gaithersburg 48-8.  As a team QO rushed for 212 yards and 4 TDs. Up next, the biggest rivalry in the DMV vs a resurgent Northwest, in the MoCoShow Game of the Week.

2. Damascus 6-1 (LW 3): The Swarmin’ Hornets beatdown Rockville 49-6.  A trip to Silver Spring to take on Springbrook is next.
