Montgomery County has announced that this Saturday’s MoCo Comicon, originally scheduled to be held at Germantown Library, will now be all digital due to increased spread of COVID-19.

&pizza was founded by Michael Lastoria and Steve Salis (Ted’s Bulletin, Federalist Pig, and Ensemble) in 2012 with their first location on H Street in D.C. The growing chain now has over 36 locations across the east coast including MoCo locations in Bethesda, Gaithersburg (Crown), Germantown, Pike & Rose, Silver Spring and a second Gaithersburg location coming soon.
Tim Kurkjian attended Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, where he played on the school’s basketball and baseball teams. At the suggestion of his basketball coach, Kurkjian began writing for the student newspaper, The Pitch, and the school’s yearbook, “The Wind-up.
He eventually became the sports editor of The Pitch and realized that journalism would be the surest means of fulfilling his childhood dream of making a living in professional sports. He graduated from the school in 1974 and after some time away, still lives in MoCo today.

Longtime MoCo resident James Brown was a member of the 2020/2021 class of the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame that was inducted earlier this week.
Affectionately known as “JB,” Brown is perhaps best known for hosting NFL Today.
Democrat Kristin Mink has announced she will file to run for County Council in the newly designated District 5. Prior to Montgomery County’s new district map being finalized, Mink announced an at-large run.
Mink is a lifelong Montgomery County resident and former MCPS teacher. She made headlines back in 2018 when she confronted Scott Pruitt, then head of the Trump Administration’s EPA, at a D.C. restaurant.

A 15-year-old male is in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries after a shooting that occurred last night on the 18800 block of Walkers Choice Road.
According to police, at approximately 6:11 p.m., 6th District officers responded to calls of a shooting and upon arrival officers located a 15-year-old male suffering from a suspected gunshot to his chest. He was transported to an area hospital with serious injury.
