Rockville Mayor and Council Unanimously Adopt Rockville 2040 Comprehensive Plan

Rockville’s Mayor and Council unanimously adopted the Rockville 2040 Comprehensive Plan update Monday evening, following a years-long process that involved hundreds of voices from the community, elected and appointed leaders and city staff, which helped shape the final document.


Capital Park Police’s Montgomery County Division is investigating multiple reports of deliberately placed hazards found along Beach Drive between Garrett Park Road and Knowles Avenue.

Since the month of July, officers have received five calls for service of reports for wooden boards with protruding nails/screws found along Beach Drive.


The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) has been awarded a $450,000 grant by the Federal Transit Administration to create a Ride On Crowd Sourcing System (ROCSS) application that provides real-time bus status and passenger counts for Ride On routes to the public and MCDOT’s central dispatch. The new technology is the first to coordinate with strategically placed buses to assist routes nearing capacity and offer “How Full Is My Bus?” trip planning services.

This cutting-edge project is slated to begin this fall with a pilot of users from the Montgomery County Transit Advisory Group. Rollout to all riders is projected to begin in spring 2022.


Montgomery County Receives $364,000 in Funds to Combat Heroin Epidemic

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan announced Monday that the state will be giving $6M in grants to fund the Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network (MCIN) and Heroin Coordinator programs. Montgomery County’s MCIN will receive $319,452 and local Heroin Coordinators will receive $45,000.
