Have you ever wondered who would win a one-on-one matchup between your high school’s all-time leading scorer and that one player who went D1 that dropped 38 points in the playoff game?

MoCo resident Jonathan Mensah has created a platform to not only answer that question, but also let you watch the games in person or through Instagram. Mensah grew up in Gaithersburg and later attended Richard Montgomery High School (class of 2010) and Montgomery College, where he also played basketball.


Montgomery County firefighters are paying their respects to Green Valley Fire Department Battalion Chief Joshua Laird (Frederick County), who died on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, while responding to a two alarm house fire in the 9500 block of Ball Road in Ijamsville, Maryland.

The ceremonial procession transferring Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services fallen firefighter, Station 25, Green Valley Fire Department Battalion Chief Joshua Laird, started at noon today and many will see Montgomery County Fire and Rescue paying their respects on highway overpasses between noon and 1pm.

FEMA and FCC Plan Nationwide Emergency Alert Test for August 11th. Test messages will be sent to TVs and radios, along with select cell phones that have opted-in to receive test messages.

FEMA, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission, will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) this summer.


Harper Caron, the president of the Texas-based Uncle Julio’s restaurants which have two MoCo locations (Bethesda and Gaithersburg), was found dead in a Dallas hotel room earlier this week.

Caron, who attended the University of Maryland, was the General Manager of Uncle Julio’s Bethesda location years ago, before being named the president of the company in 2019.

Indoor Mask Mandate Reinstated in Montgomery County, Takes Effect 12:01am Saturday

Today the Montgomery County Council, acting as the Board of Health, voted unanimously to reinstate the indoor mask mandate beginning Saturday just after midnight. Based on CDC guidelines, Montgomery County is now considered an area of substantial COVID-19 transmission.
