Montgomery County Police shared an overview of reported calls for service from Tuesday, September 29, including three auto thefts, an armed robbery, a theft from a vehicle and a hate/bias incident.
The Montgomery County Council’s joint Government Operations and Fiscal Policy and Public Safety Committee will meet Thursday, October 1 at 9:30 a.m. to review two bills related to County hiring practices, including legislation that would require additional background review of certain former Department of Homeland Security law enforcement officers involved in immigration enforcement and a separate bill that would restrict County employment for certain former federal employees who enforced federal immigration laws.
The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is adding new traffic signals and pedestrian hybrid beacons at locations across the county as part of an effort to reduce serious and fatal crashes. (more…)

Update: The Potomac Water Filtration Plant (WFP) is once again producing water following an electrical issue this morning that disrupted normal operations. While water production has resumed, WSSC Water continues to urge all 1.9 million customers in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties to use water for essential purposes only.
WSSC Water is warning that a boil water advisory could be issued later today for all 1.9 million customers in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties if crews are unable to restore operations at the Potomac Water Filtration Plant.
