Outdoor pools:
Effective Friday, June 12 at 5pm, capacity restrictions at outdoor pools will increase to 50% with the same safety guidelines in place.
Today, the City of Gaithersburg Government announced that the Summerfest and fireworks scheduled for July 4 are canceled for this year due to public health concerns. This event was expected to be held at Bohrer Park.
The city plans to hold virtual activities instead. They also plan to share a video with previous years’ displays so residents can celebrate while following distancing guidelines.

The Maryland Department of Transportation announced in a release that it will reopen select branch offices of the MVA to customers on a limited basis beginning Monday, June 8.
The Gaithersburg and White Oak MVA locations in MoCo are included in the limited openings.
Tomorrow (June 1) at 6 PM, the City of Takoma Park will host a moment of reflection and a call to action event. This event will feature several Takoma Park leaders and activists, acting as “a united front, [to] take a public stance against racism.” The event will be held via radio broadcast on Takoma Park Radio Station 94.3 FM.

The Montgomery County Housing Opportunities Commission has launched a new rental assistance program for people affected by Covid-19. The program plans to offer up to $500 a month per household to partially cover rent expenses. People who have lost their jobs, had an increase of expenses, or are otherwise experiencing financial hardship due to the current economic situation are encouraged to apply.
The window to apply starts June 1, 2020 at 10:00 AM and closes June 5, 2020 at 2:00 PM.
