Community swimming pools have begun to reopen in Brookeville and Olney as the 4th of July Weekend approaches.
Residents in the Olney Mill, Tanterra, and Hallowell neighborhoods must fill out waivers and reserve a visit time via the website “Sign Up Genius” if they wish to visit their community pools.
The Brookeville Beer Farm has reopened their dining areas, but with some slight coronavirus-related changes.
Prior to June, the restaurant and brewery offered only curbside pickup due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But now that the curve has been flattened, customers are now allowed to dine in person.
Lone Oak Farm Brewing Company is now open to the public in Olney (5000 Olney Laytonsville Road).

You might know actress Uzo Aduba from her role as Suzanne Warren (also known as “Crazy Eyes”) in the Netflix show Orange is the New Black… but did you know that Uzo has MoCo ties?
In 2003, Aduba performed in the show Translations of Xhosa at the Olney Theatre. She was a student at Boston University at the time and was in the MoCo area for that summer during the span of the production. She earned a Helen Hayes nomination for Best Supporting Actress for the role that she played.
Sardi’s Smokehouse is now serving in Olney.
Earlier this month Sardi’s Taphouse in Olney (3418 Olney Laytonsville Road) opened up the taphouse side as Sardi’s Smokehouse and is now serving fresh cuts of smoked meat.
After a few years of rumors and back and forth, we’ve been told that Jiffy Lube has secured permits and will finally begin construction of a new location in Olney very soon.
The new Jiffy Lube will be located on the northwest corner of the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Olney-Laytonsville Road (MD 108) across from Taco Bar.
Carmen’s Italian Ice will open its second location at the old Rita’s spot in Olney (3233 Spartan Road) NEXT WEEK! The frozen treats will be available in Olney starting Thursday, April 30th from 2pm until 8pm.
