Trip Advisor is a popular American online travel company that offers ratings of restaurants primarily from those who have traveled to the area, rather than locals. If you’re interested in seeing the opinions of those who have traveled to the area, you’re in luck, as today we’ll be sharing the top 10 restaurants according to Trip Advisor as of October 31, 2023.

10. Copper Canyon (928 Ellsworth Dr, Silver Spring): With a 4 out of 5 rating after 471 reviews, Copper Canyon’s Silver Spring location comes in at #10 overall in the county and #2 in Silver Spring. The restaurant has an additional MoCo location at Gaithersburg’s Rio.


Bouboulina, a new full-service American grill influenced by Mediterranean cuisine, will take 3,080 square feet on the street level of 915 Meeting. The restaurant, which is being opened by the founders of CAVA, will feature a wood fired grill, premium steak cuts, fresh seafood and house baked breads with Mediterranean influences that celebrate the founders’ heritage and roots. Construction will begin later this winter, in early 2024.

Additional information: Ted Xenohristos, Dimitri Moshovitis, and Ike Grigoropoulos are behind Bouboulina, the team’s third restaurant at Pike & Rose, that joins a collection of popular and award-winning dining choices available in the neighborhood. Melina, which opened in 2021, is name after Dimitri’s daughter and is located on the street level of 909 Rose near the group’s first restaurant, French Mediterranean concept, Julii, which opened in 2018. The partners are also the co-founders of CAVA, the Mediterranean fast-casual concept, which is publicly held.


Per the City of Rockville: “Native trees are beautiful, provide important habitat for birds and other wildlife, and help absorb stormwater runoff and pollutants. Rockville residents can receive a $150 rebate per tree from the city for planting native trees and up to a maximum of $5,000 in rebates across all rebate options. Eligible properties include single-family and townhome residences, homeowners associations, condominium associations, religious institutions, private schools and other nonprofits. Per the City of Rockville: Donations are being accepted for the 2023 Holiday Drive, Rockville’s annual push to help the community’s hundreds of children and families in need during the holiday season. In 2022, the city served 630 families, and 1,200 children, during the Thanksgiving and December holidays. This year, the city will provide fresh produce and gift cards for Thanksgiving, and books and gift cards for each child in a family for December.

Books can be dropped in collection boxes at several locations: City Hall; Twinbrook Community Recreation Center; Lincoln Park Community Center; Thomas Farm Community Center; Rockville Swim and Fitness Center; and Rockville Senior Center.


Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) have responded to the 12200blk Veirs Mill Rd., near Randolph Rd. (in the area of Korean Corner), for a collision involving a driver backing a vehicle up into the building in the Stoney Mill Square shopping center at approximately 5:30pm.

The vehicle primarily hit the entrance of Quickway and partially hit the entrance of King Pollo. Several units have responded and a building inspector has been requested. One witness has claimed that a driver hit another car before backing into the building. No word on injuries or a cause for the collision at this moment. Mimi’s Handmade ice cream has officially “soft opened” its first Montgomery County location in Federal Plaza at 12274 Rockville Pike Suite E. It has taken over the space previously occupied by Yogi Castle. Yogi Castle closed permanently this spring and Mimi’s Handmade took possession of the space in May. The ice cream shop hoped to open by the end of the summer but had to settle for a beautiful fall weekend.

Mimi’s Handmade will also be opening a second Montgomery County location in The Heights food hall, which is stated to open soon. Mimi’s opened its first location in Arlington in the summer of 2021. Mimi’s is named for one of owner Rollin Amore’s two daughters. He credits his extensive travels over the last 30 years for the unique flavors like roasted banana nut, olive OYL, butterfly pea, maple cashew, and more, offered at the ice cream shop. The shop offers a wide variety of other flavors, including more traditional options.


The City of Rockville Board of Supervisors of Elections issued the following statement on Friday, Oct. 27:

Last week, a technical issue arose that prevented voters in the City of Rockville’s 2023 election from using the online tool to track the delivery of ballots to a voter’s home. This technical issue has not affected the integrity of the city’s election process. This issue affected only the ability of voters to track their ballots through the United States Postal Service. The issue had no effect on the actual delivery of ballots.


Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have arrested and charged 43-year-old Devin Byron Dorsey, of unknown address, with the Rockville armed robbery that occurred on Monday, October 2, 2023, after an anonymous tipster came forward and identified Dorsey based on a photograph posted on a MCPD news release. The tipster is now eligible for a reward of up to $10,000.

On Thursday, October 5, 2023, detectives obtained an arrest warrant against Dorsey, charging him with armed robbery, robbery, second-degree assault and theft less than $100.   On Saturday, October 14, 2023, Dorsey was arrested in Germantown and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond.

Kusshi Sushi has officially signed on to take over the space that was home to popular sushi restaurant Sushi Damo at 36G Maryland Ave in Rockville Town Square for over 15 years. Sushi Damo, one of the first tenants of Rockville Town Square, closed permanently on October 1st.

Kusshi Sushi, which has additional MoCo locations in Pike & Rose and Downtown Silver Spring (along with an Arlington Pentagon Row and Tysons Pike 7 Plaza in Northern VA), will be renovating the restaurant and has already submitted drawings to the landlord for approval. They hope to begin construction in early 2024 and open in the spring of 2024. Kusshi is working on keeping the Sushi Damo sushi chef at the restaurant and has also made offers for Sushi Damo servers to join the new restaurant once it opens.


According to our public safety reporter Cordell Pugh, a pedestrian was struck on Wootton Parkway, South of MD-189 Falls Road, near Pasture Brook Way in Rockville around 4:35pm on Thursday,  October 26.

Montgomery County Police tweeted the following at 5:23pm: “TRAFFIC ADVISORY: A traffic collision has Wootton Pkwy. closed at Falls Rd. Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route.
