Per the office of the Montgomery County State’s Attorney: “Today, in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, before the Honorable Harry Storm, defendant, Jackson Garcia, 20, of Silver Spring, was convicted by a jury on charges of First-Degree Murder, Use of a Firearm in Commission of Crime of Violence, Armed Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery. Garcia faces the potential of life in prison when he is sentenced on February 16th, 2024.
This stems from an incident on February 17th, 2022, at the intersection of Bradley Avenue and Fletcher Place in Rockville, where officers with Montgomery County Police and Rockville City Police found 22-year-old Jose Osvaldo Genao Romero suffering from a gunshot wound. He later died at an area hospital. A police investigation led to the arrests of Garcia and a co-defendant, the accused shooter, Malik D. Jefferson, 24 of Silver Spring. Jefferson is scheduled for trial on January 22nd, 2024.
In June 2022, the Rockville Mayor and Council awarded the city branding initiative contract to the marketing firm Medium Giant to serve as a branding consultant to develop a new citywide brand. Since then, a team from the Public Information Office and from Medium Giant worked together to come up with two viable options for the city’s new brand. Staff recommends that the Mayor and Council approve one of the branding concept/systems presented by the marketing/branding consultant Medium Giant to be adopted as the city’s official brand. The process of developing the final two branding concepts was done in four phases:
Phase One: Discovery – The PIO Team met with Medium Giant to lay a foundation of expectations and understanding of what the city brand should be.
Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a pedestrian fatality that occurred on Piccard Drive near Redland Road on Tuesday, July 11, 2023. At approximately 5:10 a.m., Rockville City Police officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for the report of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that the driver of a blue 2018 Honda Civic was traveling northbound on Piccard Drive, approaching Redland Road, when he struck a pedestrian that was laying in the roadway. The driver of the Honda remained at the scene. Officers located the pedestrian who was pronounced dead at the scene. The decedent has been identified as 31-year-old Rajon Pierre Mozee, of Rockville.

RASA, a fast-casual Indian restaurant with four locations in DC and Virginia, that recently opened its first MoCo location at 12033 Rockville Pike in the Montrose Crossing shopping center, won a RAMMY award for ‘Favorite Fast Bites.’ The RAMMY awards were created by the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington to celebrate the DC region’s restaurant and foodservice industry.
RASA, founded by Rahul Vinod and Sahil Rahman (combined to create the name, RASA), who grew up in Gaithersburg, opened its first location in Navy Yard in 2017 before opening a location in Mt. Vernon Triangle in 2020, Crystal City in 2021, and Fairfax this past summer. The menu offers seven chef-curated bowls under the “We Got You” portion of the menu, that includes their signature bowls like the “Tikka Chance on Me”, “Open Sesame”, “Eat Your Veggies”, “Home Cooking”, “Goa Your Own Way”, “Aloo Need is Love”, and “Caul on Me” or the “You Got It” portion of their menu that allows customers to “DIY” and design their own bowl using the assembly line format of a base, main, sauce, veggies, toppings, and chutneys/dressings. Back in May we let you know that Tequila Modern Mexican was coming to 11 N Washington Street in Rockville Town Center, the former location of Trapezaria. Trapezaria, which opened in the summer of 2013, permanently closed on March 11. Construction on the interior of the Rockville location began in May and no opening timeframe has been announced, but the restaurant does have a hearing with Montgomery County’s Alcoholic Beverage Services (ABS) for a liquor license at 1:30pm on Thursday, July 20th.
Tequila Modern Restaurant recently opened its first location at 1645 Reservoir St #185 in Harrisonburg, VA. The restaurant group also plans to open locations in Kansas and North Carolina. The menu from the Virginia location can be seen below:

COMMUNITY SCAM ALERT: The Rockville City Police Department is alerting the community about a telephone scam today in which the caller has cloned, or “spoofed,” the Rockville City Police telephone number impersonating RCPD officers.
According to Rockville Police, “These calls are intended to trick victims into thinking they are the target of an investigation, have missed court dates, or owe fines. To ensure you are speaking with a real officer, please ask the caller for the officers identification number and immediately call our non-emergency number at 240-314-8900 to verify prior to providing any information.”
Enrico Brown, 51, of Rockville was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property in connection to an armed robbery in which two dogs were stolen in Washington, DC. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, “Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District seek the public’s assistance in locating a suspect and a vehicle in reference to Armed Robbery (Gun) and Assault with Intent to Commit Robbery offenses that occurred on Monday, July 3, 2023, in the First District.
On Thursday, July 6, 2023, during the course of the ongoing investigation, members of the Violent Crimes Suppression Division recovered Uno and Cartier. Both dogs were in good health and were reunited with their family. This case remains under investigation.
