Anytime Fitness has closed its Rockville location (9725 Traville Gateway) permanently, according to a representative from the Germantown location. We were told the 24-hour gym closed its doors in late November after over a decade in the location.

Caruso’s Grocery in Pike and Rose is taking reservations starting this Wednesday, December 7th. The restaurant is located at 11820 Trade St. in the dining room space that was home to Owen’s Ordinary and currently home to the recently rebranded Owen’s Tavern and Beer Garden.
The restaurant has rebranded from Owen’s Ordinary with the bar and patio becoming Owen’s Tavern and Beer Garden (launched last month) and the dining room making the change to Caruso’s Grocery. Both Caruso’s and Owen’s are operated by Neighborhood Restaurant Group. Chef Matt Adler previously told Washingtonian Magazine that Owen’s dining room was never as busy as its bar and patio so it made sense to repurpose the underutilized space.

Per the City of Rockville: Your bike needs a minor adjustment while you’re out on a ride, but you don’t have the tools for a tune up. What do you do? For riders on the Carl Henn Millennium Trail near the Thomas Farm Community Center, the city has you covered. Rockville recently installed a bicycle repair rack at mile marker 0 on the trail, right behind the community center.
The repair rack, which is free to use and has tools attached for minor repairs, is not designed for locking up bicycles, but instead is intended to help keep bicycles in working order for safe transportation and recreation. Cyclists can use the tools to complete quick fixes and maintenance, such as tightening handlebars, adjusting seat posts or removing tires. Per the City of Rockville: The City of Rockville provides grants annually to local organizations that partner with the city to enhance quality of life of Rockville residents. Nonprofits supporting the advancement of education and community engagement are welcome to apply. Applications are being accepted for Fiscal Year 2024 (July 1, 2023-June 30, 2024). To be eligible for a grant, organizations must provide services to Rockville residents and complete an online application.
Applicants will have the opportunity to speak in support of their grant request at a public hearing for the budget in spring 2023. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16. Tacos Don Perez will be taking over the location that was home to K-Town Bistro at 3784 Howard Ave in Kensington for the last 12 years. Tacos Don Perez took over in early November and plan to open to the public late Spring 2023 (possibly sooner) with a taqueria quick-service concept. Photos of the food available below.
Tacos Don Perez started off as a small, family-run catering business back in 2017. It continued that way until may 2020, when it became a once-a-week home-based pop-up when the family was left without work due to Covid-19. The pop-up quickly gained support from the local community, as Tacos Don Perez sold out in a matter of hours every single week. With the support of their customers, the family was able to buy and custom build their own food truck, which is located in the Glenmont shopping center (12321 Georgia Ave). In March 2022 the family opened what they’ve referred to as “the biggest food trailer in Montgomery County” in the same Glenmont location.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) as well as Emergency Medical and Integrated health Services (EMIHS) responded to a call for an injury sustained by an employee of Taipei Tokyo in the Fallsgrove Village Center in Rockville at approximately 6pm on Saturday evening.
According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, a restaurant worker suffered a traumatic injury following a mishap involving the grease trap in the kitchen. The injury has been described as a “penetrating type injury.” Co-workers assisted with the medical emergency prior to the arrival of EMIHS. Upon arrival, medics continued providing care and the adult patient was transported to a local hospital with Priority 2 trauma (serious, but non-life threatening injuries). Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Collison Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a serious collision involving a bicyclist on Thursday, December 1, 2022, in Rockville. At approximately 8:41 p.m., Rockville City Police, Montgomery County Police and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of Rockville Pike and Talbott St. for the report of a collision involving a bicycle and a vehicle.
The preliminary investigation by detectives has determined that for reason still under investigation the bicyclist entered the southbound lanes of Rockville Pike and was struck by a black 2015 Mercedes GLK350 traveling southbound. The driver of the Mercedes remained on scene.
Hangry Joe’s, located next to Roy Rogers at 718-B Rockville Pike, is now open according to Hangry Joe’s social media accounts. This is the third Montgomery County location after opening restaurants in Wheaton and Travilah Square earlier this year. An upcoming restaurant is also coming soon to Montgomery Village.

A bicyclist has been struck and critically injured by a driver on southbound Rockville Pile (MD-355) near Talbott Street, according to our public safety reporter Cordell Pugh.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were called to the scene and are transporting the bicyclist to the hospital with critical injuries (priority 1 trauma). Montgomery County Fire and Rescue services responded to a garbage truck fire on Thursday morning around 10:30am. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, firefighters responded to the trash truck fire, plus large pile of trash dumped in parking lot, in the 5000blk of Nicholson Lane (between Nebel Street and Boiling Brook Parkway) in Rockville. Nicholson Lane is closed at Nebel Street as the result of the fire rescue activity, according to Montgomery County Police. Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route and to expect delays.
