The pile-driving, which installs the piling – or vertical structure – for the support of excavation, began in September and was about 90% complete. It was completed by the start of November. More than 200 of these 60 feet-long steel I-beams will have been installed for Twinbrook Quarter.

Phase One of Twinbrook Quarter is located on the southwest corner of the property at Rockville Pike and Halpine Road and includes residential and commercial space, including a new Wegmans.


After filing for bankruptcy in 2004 due to the collapse of physical album sales and the rise of digital music, Tower Records closed its Rockville location just after the holiday shopping season in 2006, 15 years ago this December.

The beloved chain was more than just a record store. In addition to being a place to buy albums, Tower Records sold books, magazines, videos/DVDs, and concert tickets.  The store held record release events and many major recording artists performed shows at the location, including Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Good Charlotte, and Blink-182.


Federal Realty has announced that Melina, a new full-service, fine casual Greek restaurant by the founders of Cava, Cava Mezze, and Julii, will open on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 905 Rose Avenue in North Bethesda’s Pike & Rose neighborhood.

Founded by Cava partners Ted Xenohristos, Dimitri Moshovitis, and Ike Grigoropoulos, the 3,593-square-foot establishment is the team’s second restaurant at Pike & Rose. Named after Dimitri’s daughter, Melina is located on the street level of 909 Rose near the group’s French concept, Julii, which opened in 2018.


In August we let you know Èkó House would be coming to the space formerly occupied by Bar Louie at 150 Gibbs St. in Rockville Town Square.

The restaurant was granted its beer, wine, and liquor license hearing with Montgomery County on November 4th, and now signage is up and work is ongoing inside the restaurant.


A man was stabbed during a fight between employees at the McDonald’s at 1390 Rockville Pike on Tuesday night around 11pm.

Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services Pete Piringer tweeted that one adult was transported to the hospital with priority 1 trauma.


PGA TOUR Superstore will be taking over most of the  location that was formerly home to Shoppers at 5100 Nicholson Lane in White Flint Plaza, according to a report from Washington Business Journals. Construction is ongoing at Aldi, which is taking over the other side of the old Shoppers location.

PGA TOUR Superstore is one of the biggest retailers in the golf industry, with more than 40 locations in 16 states. They opened a location in nearby Fairfax last year. All stores are staffed with certified teaching professionals, state-of-the-art swing simulators and hitting bays, an expansive putting green, and an in-house club making and repair facility. Each location also offers an extensive assortment of men’s, women’s and junior’s golf clubs, footwear, accessories, golf balls and multiple lines of apparel for men, women and juniors.
