Shortly before 4PM Tuesday, Officers responded to a reported bank robbery at the Essex Bank on Nelson Street in Rockville, in the plaza visible from Northbound I-270.
Officers determined that a suspect armed with a handgun robbed the bank and then fled the scene. The Rockville City Police Department is investigating in collaboration with Montgomery County Police. The incident was captured on security cameras. Further details were not immediately available.
Vanessa Moya is in critical, but stable, condition after a driver ran her over twice in a Pike & Rose parking lot early Thursday morning.
We spoke with Adriana Moya, Vanessa Moya’s sister, who told us that a fight broke out in a parking lot at Pike & Rose between 2am and 3am. Adriana tells us that Vanessa attempted to help keep peace when she was run over by a driver. The driver then ran her over once more while speeding away from the incident.
City of Rockville Requires Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccinations, or Weekly Testing, for Employees

Federal Realty announced today that two new tenants, ESAB and Emagine IT, have committed to 909 Rose, located in the award-winning Pike & Rose neighborhood in North Bethesda.
The new tenants will join OneDigital, United Solutions, Industrious and Federal Realty. With the addition of these two tenants, the building is nearly 80 percent leased.
The Rockville Police Department will be participating in National Coffee with a Cop Day with an event at the Fallsgrove Starbucks (14941 Shady Grove Road) on Wednesday from 11am-12:30pm.

As Industrious prepares to move into its newest location in Pike & Rose, a notice has been sent out regarding the closure of 2 lanes on Rockville Pike for a brief stretch in the Pike & Rose area.
During the time frame of October 5, 2021 through October 7, 2021 from 9:00AM to 4:00PM, Jack Stone Signs will be conducting a traffic lane closure of 2 lanes for two consecutive days on MDOT SHA Route 355 (Rockville Pike) from Montrose Pkwy to Rose Ave heading South.
A transformer fire that initially began at about 7:45pm has caused power outages in some areas surrounding 5901 Montrose Road, near Towne Road, in Rockville.
The utility pole is on fire and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue are on the scene near the Monterey apartment building.

Joseph Siravo, the actor who is perhaps best known for his role as Tony Soprano’s father in HBO’s “Sopranos, was from Rockville. Sadly, he passed away this past April following a battle with colon cancer at the age of 66.
Credited as being from Washington DC, Siravo was raised in Rockville. He attended high school in DC, graduating from St. John’s College High School in 1973. According to records, he owned a home off of Norbeck Road until 2011.
