You’ll find familiar companies like Costco (#5), Wegmans (#8), MasterCard (#20), sprawled across the top 20, but coming in at #45 is our very own Montgomery County Public Schools.

The description reads: “Montgomery County Public Schools is the largest school system in Maryland and the 17th largest in the U.S., with an enrollment of 156,000 students in 202 schools. Those students come from 157 countries and speak 138 languages. The system has an annual budget of $2.39 billion. Montgomery County, north of Washington, D.C., includes the cities of Rockville, Bethesda, Gaithersburg, and Silver Spring.”

Taste of Rockville, which opens at noon on Saturday, May 26 and Sunday, May 27, offers a taste of diverse offerings from Amici Miei, Armand’s Pizzeria and Grill, Botanero, Brooklyn’s Deli & Catering, Dawson’s Market, Fresh Baguette, Golden Samovar, Mellow Mushroom, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Pandora Seafood House & Bar, Pinstripes, Saffron Indian Cuisine, Spice Xing and Trapezaria.

Food tickets are $1.25 each, with menu items costing one to five tickets each. Tickets can be purchased at one of three Taste of Rockville ticket booths along East Montgomery and Maryland avenues. Though it was the first in Montgomery County, it was fifth in the D.C. Metro area, and the 241st in America. A burger, fries, and a drink would go for under .50 cents. The Glenmont location was the second McDonald’s to open in MoCo, opening a few years after the Rockville location. It is currently the only two-story McDonald’s in Montgomery County. Featured photo shows a postcard of the first McDonald’s as it looked in the 60s.

Here is the release from B.F. Saul Co.
”This is just the first of many retail, dining and entertainment features that we will bring to this new destination,” the company said, noting the store will sit at the corner of Halpine Road and Rockville Pike. “We are looking forward to continuing our work with the City of Rockville, our neighboring communities and Wegmans to make Twinbrook Quarter a new amenity-rich community for decades to come.”
