Last week we were informed by several customers that The Cuban Corner in Rockville (825 Hungerford Dr. in Saah Plaza) was closed without explanation.

Readers told us that online ordering was working (orders were not completed) and the phone would ring, but that the restaurant was actually closed.


Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza is opening in the the old Community location at 7776 Norfolk Ave in Bethesda on Wednesday, January 29th.

​The chain started in Florida in 2002 and has since expanded with more than 50 restaurants throughout the northeast. It is owned by Anthony Bruno and backed by NFL Hall of Fame quarterback, Dan Marino.


Gardenia’s Cafe, described as homemade, multicultural cuisine made with clean ingredients, will have its grand opening this Thursday, January 23rd.

The cafe is owned and operated by a family of four (pictured) and will offer a selection of baked goods, coffee, fresh breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with a few vegan and gluten free options.


Updated on  January 13th to include a deli as a potential replacement for Zoe’s.

Zoës Kitchen will close its Park Potomac location, leaving the Germantown location as the lone Zoës in MoCo. A source close to the situation tells us that a new sushi restaurant or deli is deep in talks to come to the shopping center and could be eyeing the Zoe’s Kitchen space. Zoës in Park Potomac will close on January 24th.


Last month we featured Rockville restaurant Los Primos as a MoCo hidden gem. It didn’t take long until many more noticed, as the restaurant has been included in a list of the “Top 100 Places to Eat in the United States, According to Yelp.”

Forbes released an article on based on Yelp data (ratings, number of reviews, etc.) used to create the ultimate bucket list of places to eat across the country.


 

Located in the iconic shopping area of Bethesda Row in Bethesda, Maryland, the 2,000 square foot store will stay true to Johnny Was’ timeless style, artistry, and authenticity. Upon entrance guests are greeted with brightly colored floor to ceiling nature-inspired murals by artist Chris Lord, Italian tile floors, marble tables, oak fixtures with bronze hardware, and a mix of custom and antique furniture.
