Last November we broke the news of Mission BBQ taking over the old Ruby Tuesday location in Germantown (19800 Century Blvd).
In May, we let you know the company was shooting for a November opening. We spoke with Mission BBQ today and were told that they now plan to open on January 13th, 2020.

We know that the business had their liquor license hearing earlier this week (photo sent in by Mark Hajjar), so if all goes as planned, we expect it to open in early 2020.

MoCo Hidden Gem: 168 Asian Burrito (Olney)
MoCo has traditionally done a great job with gas station cuisine. I’m not referring to combos, energy drinks, and bubble gum– I’m talking places like Taco Bar, Corned Beef King, Seoul Food and Mangino’s (the last two are no longer located in gas stations)…Now we have 168 Asian Burrito in Olney (18000 Georgia Avenue).
Rita’s closed down for the season as they usually do, but rumors began to swirl when customers noticed the inside being gutted.
We made a couple calls, but couldn’t find out any information until the Olney Chamber of Commerce posted that Rita’s did not renew its lease and has closed permanently.
Playa Bowls, an açaí and pitaya bowl shop that started about five years ago on the Jersey Shore, is opening in Cabin John Village (7733 Tuckerman Lane) this Saturday, 11/23 at 11am.

Islands Lounge is almost ready to open on Fern Street in Wheaton, in the location that was once home to Ferdinand’s.
As most of us know by now, Barrels & Brews will be taking over the old Potomac Pizza/Deli spot in the Kentlands at 625 Center Point Way.
The same logo was used for a Facebook event in Spokane, Washington back in 2017, but we are unsure if they’re related. We are thinking a Brew Belly type of concept that features beer, wine, and food, but that’s still just speculation as we have not been able to get in contact with the owners.
Sad news for pizza lovers as Pizza CS in Rockville has announced they’ll be closing in the coming months.
After eating a late lunch at Don Pollo in Gaithersburg this afternoon, I was told that they will be opening a new location in Downtown Silver Spring.
It will be located around 905 Ellsworth Drive in the spot that was home to Noodles & Co.
