La Paz, located at 51 South Market Street in Downtown Frederick, has announced it will close its doors on Sunday, December 8, after 46 years in business. A Frederick staple since 1978, the restaurant is known for its margaritas and outside patio seating along the Carroll Creek. La Paz will be replaced by a new concept set to open in 2025.|

Chi-Chi’s, once a popular Mexican restaurant chain, faced a steep decline after a deadly hepatitis A outbreak in 2003, which sickened hundreds and led to multiple lawsuits. Sir Walter Raleigh Inn is fondly remembered as an affordable steakhouse known for its extensive salad bar, making it a popular spot for homecoming dinners and birthday celebrations. The Montgomery Village location, now a CVS, closed in 2005, but the chain once had multiple locations across the DC Metro area, including Baltimore, Bethesda, Wheaton, and Alexandria. (more…)


La Casita Pupuseria is celebrating the grand opening of its new Laurel location (14311 Baltimore Ave) with free pupusas from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m on Saturday, November 16. Founded in Silver Spring in 2002, La Casita now has locations in Gaithersburg, Laurel, Union Market, and Nationals Park. (more…)
