Last July we let you know that New York based Mexicue, which has a nearby location at 1720 14th St NW in DC, would be coming to 4733 Elm St., the former site of Gusto Farm to Street. At that time, we spoke with a representative from the DC location who told us the lease had just been signed and that no target opening date has been announced. Bethesda Beat now reports that the restaurant is targeting May for the opening of its first Montgomery County location. The Mexicue menu features tacos, bowls, shareable platters, margaritas and weekend brunch.

We smoke, braise, char, pickle, juice, mash, grind and create — in a way that is inspired by the Mexican tradition, all with a twist of the American South. Mexicue is the ultimate place to unwind and dine — or order a round of tequila to take the night to the next level.”

The owner/operator of Olney’s Chick-Fil-A restaurant has announced that he will be relocating to Georgia to open a new Chick-Fil-A in Savannah. In his letter to the community he wrote that a new owner would be in place by July and that the Chick-Fil-A corporate offices would be running the restaurant from April until then, asking for grace during the transition period. The full message can be seen below:

“Dear Chick-fil-A Olney Community,

Robert Wiedmaier’s Mussel Bar & Grille in Bethesda (7262 Woodmont Ave) will be closing permanently on April 9th, according to an employee of the restaurant. It was the first of multiple locations that opened in Bethesda in July of 2010. A second location opened in Atlantic City, N.J, and a third opened in Ballston. The Atlantic City location has since closed and the Ballston location remains open.

Per its website, “inspiration for Mussel Bar is an old-world Belgian roadhouse serving Bière, Moules & Frites, the kind of place where Chef in his youth would head late night to unwind with kitchen colleagues, eat simple food and listen to good music. He’s one of the first to ‘muscle’ the craze and honor his Belgian roots in the DC area with bringing the savory mollusks to the forefront of his own gastro-pubs with the original location in Bethesda, MD that opened in July, 2010.”

Foxtrot, the modern corner store, café and delivery market, has announced its continued DMV expansion with the opening of its first Maryland location at Bethesda Row (7262 Woodmont Avenue). It will be moving in to the space currently occupied by Mussel Bar & Grille, which will be closing in April.

Foxtrot will serve as a neighborhood destination where Bethesda residents can gather to grab a coffee, enjoy a meal, or pick up pantry staples and a bottle of wine.
