The Taste the World in Fenton Village returns to Silver Spring this year on May 16th. The week long event features close to 50 restaurants and is intended to highlight the areas diverse dining options.

Royal Tandoor in Gaithersburg to Open This Thursday
Royal Tandoor at 820 Muddy Branch Square in Gaithersburg will be opening this Thursday, May 6th at 3PM.
VÜK, the pinball arcade and pizza parlor at 4924 St Elmo Ave in Bethesda, will be closing May 16th.
The arcade’s five year lease is coming to an end and construction will soon begin on a new high-rise apartment complex that will be replacing VÜK and the surrounding building.

Update on Dog Haus in Silver Spring
Construction is beginning this month on the new Dog Haus Biergarten located at 933 Ellsworth Dr. in Downtown Silver Spring, the space formerly home to Lebanese Taverna (now on Fenton Street).

Shell Shack Caribbean Seafood Coming to Silver Spring
Source of the Spring reported Thursday that the Shell Shack food truck will be relocating from it’s DC location to 920 Gist Avenue in Silver Spring.

Taste MoCo: Best Deli in MoCo Tournament Winner: Filippo’s Italian Specialties in Wheaton
Filippo Leo has worked at the deli for over 30 years. He took over the deli back in 2012, a year after founder Thomas Marchone passed away. The deli, located at 11224 Triangle Lane in Wheaton, opened in 1955 and operated as Marchone’s until 2014.

Shouk, A Kosher Street Food Restaurant, Will Open Two MoCo Locations This Fall
Today, Shouk announced that they would be opening two new locations this fall– one in Westwood Shopping Center in Bethesda, and another in Rockville’s Montrose Shopping Center.
Olazzo in Silver Spring to Close This Weekend
Olazzo, located at 8235 Georgia Ave in Silver Spring, announced today that they will be permanently closing this weekend.
Bump ‘n Grind Closing its Silver Spring Location on May 26
Source of the Spring first reported today that Bump ‘n Grind will be closing its coffee shop / record store at 1200 East-West Highway in Silver Spring on Wednesday, May 26th.
Montgomery Village Center Update
We were told by business owners that the construction was holding up the Montgomery Village Animal Hospital and the Floor Tile & Carpet store from moving to their newly built locations in the center.
Grilled Oyster Co. Moving From Potomac Location
Store Reporter broke the news last week that the The Grilled Oyster Co. will be closing it’s location at 7943 Tuckerman Ln in Potomac and relocating to Gaithersburg later this year.
