Last summer we reported that Ema Rossi Pizzeria Napoletana would be moving in to the old Pizza Hut location in the Rock Creek Village Center (5556 Norbeck Rd).

Pizza Hut closed back in April of 2020 and the location remained vacant for a few months, but the space was quickly snatched up and permanent signage for Ema Rossi went up in the winter.

MCPS has announced today that they will televise a Universal Graduation Celebration to honor the class of 2020 for all of its schools.  Chef and humanitarian José Andrés has been selected as the commencement speaker.

This broadcast will take place on Sunday, June 7 at 6 PM and can be seen on NBC4 channels in addition to the MCPS website and YouTube channel.

Back in November we reported that Don Pollo would be coming to Downtown Silver Spring. It will be located at 905 Ellsworth Drive in the spot that was home to Noodles & Co.

The restaurant was not expected to open until well into 2020. Construction has been ongoing and though an opening date hasn’t been provided, it’s still expected to open in the coming months.

We’ve all heard of New York and Chicago style pizza, but we have our own style of pizza here in Maryland. As we discussed in our inaugural podcast back in 2014 due to our very own Mr. MoCo’s enthusiasm for this type of pizza, Maryland-style pizza is characterized by its rectangular shape, biscuity crust, sweet tomato sauce, and smoked provolone cheese.

While we use the term “Maryland Style Pizza,” it mainly pertains to areas in Maryland that are suburbs of Washington DC, with this style predominantly found in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. This pizza style tends to spark debate, as many people have strong opinions about its unique components– whether it’s the sauce, the crust, the cheese, or a combination of all three.
