According to their website, “BBQ” doesn’t stand for barbecue, it stands for “Best of the Best Quality!”

There is currently a location in Centreville, VA., and their menu offers a wide variety of starters, including waffle fries with nacho cheese, kimchi chicken sliders, and many different flavors of their olive chicken strips.

El Sapo will be “unmistakably Cuban, full of instense flavors, laughter, music, colors and aroma.” The food will be inspired by the foods Chef Mendizabal ate at home and on the streets of La Habana while he was growing up as well as his journey as a chef throughout the years.

Happy hour will last from 4pm-7pm and will consist of half-price mojitos and specials on beer, wine, and Cubano sandwiches.

There were previously rumors of Matchbox also replacing Ted’s Bulletin In Downtown Crown (Gaithersburg), but they never materialized before Matchbox sold off the Ted’s Bulletin brand last year.

Matchbox currently has a location in MoCo on Rockville Pike. The new Silver Spring location is expected to open by Spring 2019.

According to their Facebook page, their hours are 11am-10pm daily.

Though they haven’t announced the vendors, Pike Kitchen is expected to include Korean bibimbap, Hawaiian poké bowls, bubble tea, Taiwanese buns (bao), Japanese Ramen, Vietnamese bahn mi, Thai street food, and much more!

They’re using this week to “get acquainted with their work flow,” but don’t worry…they’ll be making it more than worth it by offering 40% off all food!

I attended their friends & family opening and can safely say that this will become the premier sushi “date spot” in MoCo.
