Husband and wife team, Florian and Shannon Radke, opened their first bakery in Berkeley, California in 2010. Four years later, the couple appeared on Shark Tank, where they initially accepted a $200,000 investment for 20% of their company (the deal later fell through due to differences in how investor Robert Herjavec and the Radke’s saw the company moving forward).

The bakery will be located at 321 Ellington Drive In Downtown Crown. The location used to be home to the “Downtown Crown RPAI US Management Office.” They expect to open in early 2019.

Chef and owner Caroline Yi grew up in MoCo, attended Wootton High School and the University of Maryland at College Park.

This season she has been selling her goods at the Pike & Rose Farm Market, where she has a very loyal following. Yi chose Pike & Rose for her brick and mortar bakery and café because she sees it as the perfect location.


After speaking with a few employees the last two days, I was able to confirm that Taco Bar is planning to open in Olney this October.

Taco Bar currently has locations on Russell Ave in Gaithersburg, and in Frederick. Taco Bar Washingtonian (in Rio) is not related to the restaurant. They released the following statement today:


I was told by an employee that the location will be in King Farm, but was recently informed that it’ll be adjacent to King Farm at 540 Gaither Rd. in the Redland Corporate Center.

Bon Fresco makes their own bread in-house. The ciabatta takes 30 hours, start to finish. “There’s no rushing it. Break open its crust, and you’ll see why it was all worth it” says their website.


The restaurant offers a wide variety of wines (sparkling, white, red, international, sweet red, dessert, fruit, specialties, and more) along with many other beverages and a menu that consists of beef & pork, seafood, pasta, chicken, and burgers/sandwiches.

According to Reuter’s, CAVA will pay $12.75 per share (a 33% premium to the 8/16/18 closing price). CAVA opened its 64th fast casual restaurant in Potomac Yards in DC earlier this week. This deal could potentially bring them up to over 300 locations. the purchase will be financed through a significant equity investment in Cava led by Act III Holdings, the investment vehicle create by Ron Shaich, founder, chairman, and former CEO of Panera Bread, and take Zoes private. After closing, Shaich will serve as chairman of the combined company. Brett Schulman, current CEO of Cava, will take over the same role to “work closely with the existing leadership teams at Zoes Kitchen and Cava to oversee their growth and evolution.

There are currently 3 Zoes Kitchen locations in MoCo– In Gaithersburg, Germantown, and Park Potomac.


The location will have a coffee lounge with sofas and community tables and will serve breakfast and lunch all day

They will serve Vigilante coffee from Hyattsville and offer growlers of cold brew for $16.99 for a 32 ounce growler and $8.99 for a refill. Cold brew can be served for up to two weeks out of that growler.


Today, Bethesda Beat reported that Alonso and Alvaro Roche will close their other Bethesda restaurants– TacoArepa, 202 Donuts & Coffee, and 202 Next Door.

Bold Bite gained popularity when it was located next to Blackfinn on Fairmont Avenue. The restaurant moved to 4903 Cordell Avenue with an expanded menu, and remained there until closing last week.
