On Friday, Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich signed an executive order directing the Department of Permitting Services to immediately pause the acceptance, processing and consideration of permit applications for new data centers.
The Montgomery County Council is scheduled to introduce Bill 27-26 on Tuesday, June 16, which would prohibit participation in unlawful street racing and street takeovers on public highways and roadways.
The Montgomery County Council will meet Tuesday, June 16 to recognize World Refugee Day, Juneteenth, Pride Month and Elder Abuse Awareness Day, while also introducing legislation to prohibit unlawful street racing and street takeovers, expand representation on the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Commission, restrict certain former federal immigration enforcement personnel from County employment, and authorize hundreds of millions of dollars in bonds for stormwater and White Oak development projects.
The Council will also hold public hearings and votes on funding for fire and rescue services, road resurfacing, snow removal and storm cleanup, data center moratorium legislation, and capital projects including the Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center and North Bethesda Fire Station.
