The Washington Commanders officially dropped the “Redskins” moniker in 2020 amid public pressure and concerns that the name was offensive to Native Americans. They played as the Washington Football Team for two seasons before rebranding as the Washington Commanders in 2022. The current owner, Josh Harris, has stated there are no plans to revert to the old name, but that hasn’t stopped President Donald Trump from weighing in, stating this morning that a change back to Redskins should occur “IMMEDIATELY.”

Yelp has released its list of the top 50 Fried Chicken spots in the U.S. and Canada, according to Yelp Elites. One Maryland restaurant, Ekiben, made it onto the list– coming in ranked 4th in all of the U.S. and Canada. Ekiben was co-founder by a graduate of Quince Orchard High School.

Update: Miniso has just closed its Montgomery Mall location

has signed on to open its newest location at 12266F Rockville Pike in Federal Plaza. The store, which has put up coming soon signage, will be located between Tiger Sugar and Fulton Bank– near Torchy’s Tacos.


The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) released a statement welcoming a federal judge’s decision for its lawsuit against MCPS to proceed. U.S. District Judge Lydia Kay Griggsby has ruled that certain claims within the lawsuit alleging violations of teachers’ First Amendment rights may proceed, while dismissing the employment discrimination claims.

Last November, we reported that California Fish Grill, a chain with approximately 50 restaurants in California and Arizona, signed on for its first Maryland location at 12238 Rockville Pike in Rockville’s Towne Plaza. Now we know that the restaurant plans to open this fall– with a goal to open by the first week of November.
