The Golden Samovar has closed in Rockville Town Square. The Russian and Central Asian restaurant opened in the summer of 2016 in the old Cosi location at 201 N. Washington Street.

Samovar had previously closed temporarily a couple times due to flooding, but after calling the restaurant today we were told this one is permanent.

Anyone craving Central Asian cuisine can travel to nearby Silk Road Choyhona in Gaithersburg or the new Eerkin’s Uyghur Cuisine, which opens today in Rockville.

We have an update on the Corned Beef King’s move to Dawson’s Market.

Last year the Corned Beef King packed up and moved from Olney to Liberty gas station at Rockville Pike and Twinbrook. After almost a year and a half, Corned Beef King will be moving to a space inside of Dawson’s Market.

Dawson’s Market re-opened in Rockville Town Square under new ownership this past December after closing for two months.

Earlier this year they became the only place in MoCo to offer Sugar Shack donuts. Corned Beef King will have its soft opening in Dawson’s on Monday, November 11th and it’s Grand Opening on Wednesday, November 13th.

In the summer we let you know that Gumbo Ya Ya, a Cajun and Puerto Rican fusion restaurant with a location in Germantown, was coming to Rockville Town Square.

They’ll open this Friday, November 1st, and we have their brand new menus below (full menu, happy hour menu, and Sunday brunch menu).

This location will not be full-service like their previous Germantown restaurant, but was described to me as “premium fast casual.” The Rockville location will offer a full bar, tables to dine-in, and a Sunday brunch menu that will be unique to the Rockville Town Square location.

Gumbo Ya Ya is located in the old Lab Cafe location, across from Finnegan’s Wake, at 101 Gibbs Street. ALL government employees- local, state, federal, receive a 10% discount with ID.

Parking is free for 2 hours with validation in Rockville Town Square.

In related news, the Germantown location has closed permanently.

On October 1st, we broke the sad news regarding Dawson’s Market closing later in that month.

After a GoFundMe campaign wasn’t successful in raising enough funds to cancel the impending closure, the store closed on October 27th.

Now for some better news…

We’ve been told that Dawson’s Market has been holding job interviews and placing orders for a potential December opening.

I’ve reached out to Dawson’s director of operations, Bart Yablonski, but have been unable to receive confirmation on the potential re-opening of Dawson’s Market in Rockville Town Square (225 N. Washington St. Rockville, MD).

We’re pulling for Dawson’s here at The MoCoShow and hope they’re able to make it happen!

UPDATE: I have been told by two different vendors that an opening date of December 19th has been given to them, but still have not received confirmation from Dawson’s Market.
