Boston Market has closed its last remaining Montgomery County location, as the restaurant at 3825 Aspen Hill Rd in Northgate Plaza (Aspen Hill) has closed permanently (photos below). Boston Market closed its Gaithersburg location back in April also closed its White Oak location in early 2020. The restaurant chain is dealing with various issues across the country, as detailed in this Finance Buzz article.

Last January we reported that Boston Market would be opening a new Rockville Pike location, according to signage that was put up at the old Katsu Go location in Towne Plaza (the shopping center that’s home to Navy Federal Credit Union and PM Pediatrics) at 12238 Rockville Pike Rockville, MD 20852. In December, we spoke with a klnb representative who told us that Boston Market signed a lease, but had pulled out of the space. Boston Market was founded as Boston Chicken in 1985.

Charleys Cheesesteaks opens today at 13617 Connecticut Ave. in the Aspen Hill shopping center. This is the third Charleys location to open this year in Montgomery County. Last month, Charleys opened inside of the Germantown Walmart at 20910 Frederick Rd, in the space formerly occupied by McDonald’s. In June, Charleys opened a location at 19877 Century Blvd in Germantown, in the space that was previously home to Roll by Goodyear and Yogi Castle in the Shops at Town Center & Century Station shopping center. Charleys has additional locations in Bethesda, Clarksburg, Gaithersburg, and Wheaton.

Charley’s now has over 600 stores nationwide. Newer locations have adopted a new menu concept, offering chicken wings and ice cream in addition to its Philly cheesesteaks. “Tossed-to-order, the wings are made with 10 chef-inspired flavors ranging from Angry Ghost and Nashville Hot to milder options like Zesty Lemon-Lime Rub and Sweet Teriyaki.”

Charley’s Cheesesteaks is coming to the vacant space next to FloorMax (which is next to Wing Stop) in the Aspen Hill shopping center. Construction is ongoing and an opening date is not yet available. This was previously reported as Charley’s Steakhouse, a restaurant that’s part of Florida-based Talk of the Town restaurant group, based on information we received from representatives at the store during the early construction phase. This will not be a steak house, but rather the popular chain– Charley’s Cheesesteaks.
