I also spoke with the bartender for a little. He told me that Quarry House has the oldest active liquor license in MoCo (until Dietle’s is back up and running).

My Quarry House Tavern experience was just as I remembered it. There’s something about the place that just makes you love being there. The atmosphere is still perfect, the food is as good as you’ll find in a dive-bar (though I’m hesitant to call it that), and the beer selection is top-notch.

It was announced a few months back that Ivan Iracan would be bringing Tacos, Tortas, and Tequila to Silver Spring to occupy the old 8407 Kitchen Bar spot (https://mocoshow.com/blog/tacos-tortas-and-tequila-coming-to-silver-spring).

A few weeks later he announced that he would be bringing an unlimited small plates program, similar to the one at his popular D.C. restaurant Ambar, to the second level of the location– as Buena Vida.

Since the late 80s, he has been seen walking/running in different parts of MoCo. Though he is associated with Olney, he is often spotted in the Aspen Hill area nowadays (he is still out and about throughout the county).
He’s had a couple Facebook pages devoted to him, and from what I have been told, is aware of his local celebrity status within the county.

I’m told his name is Lenny. There are many different rumors about his background, but none that can be confirmed so I don’t want to get into hearsay.

Each area was examined based on ethnicity, race, language, and birthplace. Though Jersey City, NJ, came in first, four MoCo areas were included in the top 10.

Gaithersburg came in 2nd, Germantown came in 3rd, Silver Spring came in 4th, and Rockville was 9th.

Montgomery County has strong ties to many celebrities, but we wanted to list a few that aren’t discussed as much as the usual suspects. Check out this list of just 10 of the thousands of celebrities with MoCo ties below:

Pamela Reed: You may recognize her from one of her many movie or television roles (Kindergarten Cop, Junior, Jericho, NCIS: Los Angeles, etc.), but before she went to Hollywood, Reed lived in Silver Spring and attended Springbrook High School.

According to Montgomery County Police, “officers have responded to Albert Einstein HS for a threat sent via email to school staff about explosive device outside of building. K9s w/ explosive-detection skills conducting search outside of school now. Dismissal is being delayed until search complete.”

Per MCPS, police is at the school conducting a thorough search.
