He works at a car wash by day and plays scratch-offs by night, a Montgomery County resident told Lottery officials this week. He limits his evening fun to one instant ticket. Last week, however, a spur-of-the moment break from routine led to a $100,000 Lottery windfall and one of the happiest moments of his life.

“I was in the mood for a $10 scratch ticket so I picked $1,000 Loaded,” said the Silver Spring resident. He had won with the game in recent weeks, making it his current favorite among the Lottery’s $10 scratch-off offerings. He planned to stick with his routine and buy just one of the $1,000 Loaded games when he stopped in at Wheaton Winery in Silver Spring.

Last summer, the Wheaton Streetery was created so that people can enjoy restaurants in downtown Wheaton while while remaining outside during the pandemic that closed indoor dining.

Sections of Price Ave. and Elkins St. were closed to vehicular traffic as restaurants set up seating on sidewalks and into the closed roadways.

Frank’s Burger Place is now open at 11265 Triangle Lane in Wheaton. Owner Chef Pedro Matamoros told us that he wants to bring a fresh and local burger place to the area that doesn’t cost a fortune.  “We don’t want to charge $15 for a burger like the other places.”

The restaurant is currently serving burgers, dogs, chicken sandwiches, veggie burgers, and shakes. They hope to have beer on tap in the near future. They are open 11am-10pm daily and are also available on DoorDash, UberEats and Grub Hub.
