The IUL MOCO Student Holiday Festival will provide an environment to celebrate MCPS African American and/or students of African descent as they continue to navigate their way through the COVID pandemic and define their new sense of normalcy. The free event includes various presentations throughout the day, including a special presentation of the IUL COVID Student Creativity Competition

(www.iulmocostudentsfirst.org), an ongoing competition for Montgomery County students to express their thoughts on how they are coping with the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, there will be a holiday raffle for some great prizes, holiday games/activities and a dance party featuring a local DJ. Food will be served at 12 noon. Special guests will visit throughout the day. Montgomery County COVID protocols will be enforced, including wearing masks indoors.


The African American Health Programs (AAHP) Targeted COVID-19 Response Program, implemented by the National Center for Children and Families has partnered with Hearts In Mind Counseling and Fit Fathers to provide FREE mental health counseling to African American and Black residents of Montgomery County, Maryland.

So please join our “Mental Health on My Block” event hosted by radio host Joe Clair who will engage families, individuals, and youth in dialogue on mental well-being. Additionally, the community initiative will feature informative panel discussions, fun activities, COVID-19 testing and vaccines, free giveaways, a mental health resource fair, food, and a live broadcast from 93.9 WKYS FM.
