As the result of a recent residential burglary trend, the Montgomery County Police – 2nd District Investigative Section was conducting follow-up investigations when they obtained footage from a June 21, 2022, burglary that occurred in the 5300 block of Brookeway Drive. The surveillance footage indicated four unknown suspects entered the residence and stole a GMC Yukon SUV, which was subsequently recovered in the area the next day.

On Thursday, June 30, 2022, at approximately 1:20 a.m., officers from the Montgomery County 2nd District Special Assignment Team responded to the 6000 block of Johnson Avenue for the report of an attempted burglary in progress. Officers from the 2nd District – Special Assignment Team observed a BMW SUV, matching a previous burglary suspect vehicle form June 21, 2022, leaving the area and initiated surveillance.


A tractor trailer rolled over following a collision between Connecticut Avenue and 355 on the outer loop of I-495 at approximately 6:45am Saturday morning, according to Montgomery Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) PIO Pete Piringer. One adult was being evaluated for non life-threatening injuries.

Though the cargo was non-hazardous, a HazMat crew was on the scene to help with the pumping off the remaining fuel and to deal with other fluid spillage. The two right lanes of the outer loop of 495 were closed for an extended period of time on Saturday morning.


A large trucker convoy that converged in Hagerstown, MD over the weekend have said they are hitting the road again today, Monday, March 7, in an effort to disrupt traffic on the Capital Beltway.

The convoy made its first trip around the beltway on Sunday morning and did not appear to have much impact on traffic.  Local drivers were able to pass and maneuver around the trucks and many of the vehicles involved in the convoy became separated from the group.


The first of several trucker convoys headed to the DC area this week is expected to arrive today.

Protest organizer Bob Bolus of Scranton, PA,  almost called his convoy off this morning when only a handful of trucks showed up at the starting point, but ultimately decided to proceed as scheduled around 10:30am, according to Kevin Lewis from ABC7.


A Montgomery County Circuit Court judge has ordered the state of Maryland to reconsider its decision to award a $54 million contract to Accelerate Maryland Partners, an international conglomerate comprised of  toll road developer Transurb, and Australian financial services group Macquarie, according to a report by Maryland Matters.

On Thursday, Judge John M. Maloney ruled that Maryland Department of Transportation was wrong to reject others bids on the project based on timeliness grounds.


An overturned tractor-trailer caused several lanes to be closed on the outer loop of 495 between Rockville Pike and Old Georgetown Rd around 1am Sunday morning.

According to Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Pete Piringer, MCFRS HazMat assisted in cleaning up the diesel fuel that leaked from the truck’s tanks.
