I’m told that construction has not began yet, but they expect to open in the fall– as early as late September.
As first reported by Biz Journals, Black Ankle Vineyards has recently decided to expand, purchasing farms in Carroll County and Montgomery County. “The Montgomery County location, a 230-acre farm at 25201 Peach Tree Road in Clarksburg, was purchased for about $1.7 million in December, and they bought the Carroll County farm, a 150-acre property on Rinehart Road in Westminster, the next month for $706,000.” (https://www.bizjournals.com/baltimore/news/2018/03/26/with-two-new-farms-mount-airys-black-ankle.html)
The Carroll County location will primarily be used to grow more grapes for wine production, while the MoCo location in Clarksburg will include a tasting room similar to their Mount Airy location.

It’s my understanding that everything has not been signed, but it’s very close.
Their current restaurant is located in Rock Creek Village Center in Rockville. Per their website, “It is a great option to share with the family, a place with delicious food. Our extensive menu offers a wide selection of Margaritas ranging from traditional to modern recipes, appealing to all tastes.”
In one of the comments a reader mentioned that the Harris Teeter in the same shopping center could be closing. I reached out to the reader, but wasn’t able to get a response.
After doing some research, I was able to find that the Harris Teeter rumor began due to listings on multiple commercial real estate websites. While Harris Teeter is listed, the available space is much smaller (just over 3,000 square feet).
NVRetail didn’t want to reveal which restaurant will be moving in just yet, but I’m told that the restaurant coming in has one other MoCo location.
