Back in May we let you know about ‘That Smoothie Place’ coming to Damascus, taking over the location that was formerly home to Sprint in the Damascus shopping center at 9815 Main Street, suite 106. The store has recently announced that its soft opening is set for Friday, December 9th. Full announcement and more info below:

The Damascus Swarmin’ Hornets take on the Oakdale Bears tonight at 7pm at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis for the 3A Maryland State Championship.
The Swarmin’ Hornets defeated River Hill 42-7 in the semifinals. RB Dillon Dunathan rushed for 245 yards and 4 touchdowns in the win. Oakdale, from Frederick County, defeated St. Charles 27-22. Damascus will be appearing in their 17th State Final and will be attempting to win their 12th State championship, which would tie the state record currently held by Seneca Valley.

4A: (2) Quince Orchard vs (1) Flowers– The Cougars beat Broadneck 42-9 in the semifinals. RB Iverson Howard rushed for 210 yards & 2 touchdowns in the victory. WR Tavahri Groves also contributed with 129 yards of total offense and 2 touchdowns. Flowers, from PG County, defeated Wise 20-13 in their semifinal game. This will be QO’s 9th appearance in the state finals, having won 4. Flowers will be playing in their 1st state final in school history. These two squads have only played each other once prior, in 2011 they met in the state semifinal resulting in a 23-12 Quince Orchard win. Quince Orchard vs Flowers High School Football Game of the Week (2011) The Head Coaches of QO & Flowers, John Kelley & Dameon Powell respectively, both played their high school ball in MoCo. Kelley at Seneca Valley and Powell at Sherwood. In addition, they played against each other twice in 1996, Seneca winning the regular season meeting and Sherwood getting revenge in the playoffs. Weis Markets, which has two Montgomery Count locations and many others nearby, has recalled “Weis Quality Sea Salt Caramel Ripple Ice Cream” according to a notice posted by Weis on November 23, 2022. Reason for recall: Product may be contain undeclared soy and coconut allergens. The recall was initiated when it was discovered that the product containing soy and coconut was distributed in packaging that did not list the presence of soy and coconut.
Anyone with an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy or coconut allergens could potentially run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products. The ice cream container says “Weis Quality Sea Salt Caramel Ripple Ice Cream” and the lid says “Weis Quality Caramel Caribou Ice Cream.” No illnesses have been reported to date.
It is a rare privilege to still be playing high school football on Thanksgiving. Damascus & Quince Orchard Alumni gathered this morning to support the players & coaches of their respective schools as they prepared for Friday nights semifinal state playoff games. This will be Damascus’ 19th semifinal appearance and Quince Orchard’s 8th.
After being released by the New Orleans Saints earlier this week, the Indianapolis Colts today signed running back Jake Funk to the practice squad and released running back Phillip Lindsay from the practice squad.
Funk, 5-10, 205 pounds, played in 15 games in two seasons (2021-22) with the Los Angeles Rams and registered two carries for five yards and three special teams tackles. Funk also tallied four kickoff returns for 88 yards (22.0 avg.). He appeared in three postseason contests and compiled two carries for five yards and one special teams stop. Funk was originally selected by the Rams in the seventh round (233rd overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft.
The New Orleans Saints tried out free agent running backs Derrick Gore, Jaquan hardy, and Antonio Williams after releasing Jake Funk from the practice squad Tuesday, per the NFL’s transactions wire. Funk was signed to the Saints practice squad in October after being released by the Los Angeles Rams.
Jake Funk was drafted in the 7th round of the 2021 draft by the Los Angeles and won a Super Bowl with the team in his first year in the NFL. He remained with the team for the first part of the 2022 NFL season, but was released in early October before finding a new, but temporary, home in New Orleans.
