For a while people questioned whether or not the Century Blvd./ I-270 location was still in the plans, but since breaking ground in December, there has been a lot of progress has been made towards the goal of opening in 2019.

The Illinois-based chain, which has nearly 3,000 locations worldwide, will open their third current MoCo location (their other MoCo locations are in Gaithersburg and Silver Spring) in the Germantown Town Center.

They have already begun construction, but there’s no timeframe for when they’ll open.


Monkey Joe’s, a 12,000 square foot indoor inflatable party and play center for kids, has closed permanently. Monkey Joe’s took over the old Hard Times location in the Germantown Commons Shopping Center in 2016.

They left the following message on their Facebook page: “We are sorry to inform you that Monkey Joe’s Germantown is closed, effective immediately. We apologize for any inconvenience to our loyal fans and those with plans to visit in the near future http://ow.ly/d/8fQp e. We have enjoyed being part of the community and helping you and your families play, have fun and celebrate birthdays. Unfortunately, we are unable to continue operating.


Signage was removed a couple weeks back, but the restaurant initially stated they were just remodeling. The windows are now boarded up and the restaurant closed permanently earlier this week.

Calls to the location on Crystal Rock Drive are now being forwarded to Fox Chapel location (19733 Frederick Rd.), which will cover most of the closed location’s delivery area.


Each area was examined based on ethnicity, race, language, and birthplace. Though Jersey City, NJ, came in first, four MoCo areas were included in the top 10.

Gaithersburg came in 2nd, Germantown came in 3rd, Silver Spring came in 4th, and Rockville was 9th.
