This weekend, May 11 – 12, the Morgan Boulevard and Downtown Largo stations will be closed on the Blue and Silver lines for weekend construction. Free shuttle buses will replace trains to/from the closed stations connecting to the Metrorail system at Addison Road. Additional maintenance is also scheduled on the Red and Green lines with trains single tracking through the work zones. More weekend updates below:

During a joint Boards of Directors meeting hosted by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro), officials from the two organizations announced a historic regional planning initiative called DMVMoves, Moving our region forward, together, which will set the vision for comprehensive regional transit planning in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.

With unanimous Board support, Michelle A. Zamarin was formally appointed Metro’s new Inspector General today. She will serve a three-year term. Ms. Zamarin will be sworn in at a special Board of Directors meeting in June and will join the Metro team on June 17, 2024.

On Thursday, Metro’s Board of Directors approved a $4.8 billion capital and operating budget which largely maintains bus and rail service levels when the new budget year begins on July 1.

Metro will preview the upcoming summer construction work on the Red Line from Glenmont to Fort Totten on Tuesday morning at the top-level of the Paul S. Sarbanes Transit Center in Silver Spring at 11:30am. Dates of station closures available in the image above.
