UPDATE (8:29am): MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer says several workers were injured during an electrical mishap involving an electrical vault near the Medical Center Metro Station. Multiple workers were evaluated at the scene, with three transported to area hospitals. According to Piringer, one patient was transported as a Priority 1 trauma patient and two others as Priority 2 trauma patients. All three suffered serious injuries, including electrical burns and other injuries. The incident remains under investigation.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews are responding to a major electrical incident near the Medical Center Metro station that has left six people injured.

The next major milestone for Clarksburg Town Center’s long-awaited retail development will be marked with live music, food trucks, and a hometown performer who recently earned national attention on NBC’s The Voice.

A major redevelopment plan at Rio in Gaithersburg is moving closer to a final decision, with key votes scheduled later this month and in July. According to a June 5 update from the City of Gaithersburg, the application for the project is entering its final stages after months of review. The Planning Commission and Mayor & City Council had previously kept the record open to allow additional revisions and approvals related to stormwater and environmental plans, as well as to address concerns raised by the public.

Gaithersburg

The 270 Center on Shady Grove Road in Gaithersburg has long been home to major retailers including Home Depot, Nordstrom Rack, Men’s Wearhouse, and Five Guys. Over the last year, the shopping center has undergone several notable changes, with new businesses opening while one prominent space remains vacant.
